Hi..

I see these pretty cheap, im just wondering if i could use one in a 120cm x 120cm tent with good results?

I think you put ice in them and there is no need to vent

Anyone using one to keep their area cool?

They work well in dry climates and for vegging only... You dont want higher humidity for flowering. If you live in a place with >40% humidity mostly, their performance will suffer.

could you not use one in conjunction with a dehumidifier to achieve good results?
I don't believe that would work in conjunction due to some equation about water mass and air or something. If you live in a really dry area you may be able to exhaust it out, but with the cost of a dehumidifier running you might as well just buy an AC.

i thought you didnt need to exhaust one of these units... i want the dehumidifier, portable ac puts out way too mich heat for my liking out the back of the unit

Hopefuly you've already fixed this problem, but a swamp cooler isn't the best solution. I see a pic of a grow in what looks like a tent to me. You could have just mounted through the side of the tent and exhausted the heat put into the room outside the tent with a cardboard box, duct or foil tape, and a small blower if you were worried about expelling too much heat into the room outside the tent. You can build a homemade fitting with the box and tape to make sure as little heat as possible actually hangs out in the room. Simple, and very effective. Hope somebody benefits from it. Swamp cooler increases your chances of bud rot. And the dehumidifer won't work as fast as the swamp cooler.
