No, they are running for the hills trying to avoid a lynch mob. Tell me a guy that bought a CA, tract house at it's Bubble bursting peak for a million bucks and is now making atrocoius payments while his digs are worth about 250K wouldn't like to get you and your buddies in his crosshairs. I think they ought to put a bounty on you guys, realtors. bankers, appraisers, loan officers, all you deserve to have a bullseye painted on your front and back and have at least a 10,000 bounty on your asses. I'd love to go bounty hunting, 10,000 bucks dead or alive.

Sorry med but you have to make sure your info is spot on, or your point is moot. Democrats are definitely the poorer of the two prominent parties, but those of us who identify as liberal are doing just fine. I see liberals as the educated leaders of the democratic party, speaking out for those less fortunate. I am part of the same cause as you, but taxing corporations just leads to inflation. The solution *is* taxing the rich, but there has to be a way to prevent big business from sticking it to us when we do, that is the main problem. We have to have more control over big business, or they will just make us pay their taxes by raising their prices.

Uhhh, 41%, doesn't that leave 59% that make under 75K?? I guess I should have said democrats, as I know there are a lot of wealthy liberals. I just don't happen to be one, or for that fact even know any. I believe there is a lot higher figure than 59% that make under 75K though, and I doubt there are many repukes in that group:

I really doubt that Real Estate Agents had anything to do with the bubble. They rake a percentage off of the price. If they are selling 1 house a month on a 3 - 4K commission or 1 house a month on a 5 - 6K commission it probably matters little to them if the commissions jump to 10 - 12K, they are still going to try selling houses.
They are not responsible for the fact that people who should not have been able to get mortgages were getting mortgages, which resulted in house prices being inflated.
They don't actually control supply/demand, they just facilitate from the center.
What was it that Vi asked you Med. If it was their fault that prices were inflated is it now their fault that prices are deflating?

I grew up here in chicago, it was a hard working friendly blue collar city with cheap housing and lots of work. soon after the 'yuppies' started to flock here, things changed. it soon became a manhattan style city. $40 salads, $10,000 property tax ect ect ect and it spread throughout this country like a disease.

The answer may be yes. They actually were the driving force in house price inflation. Remember that 3% of a million is a lot better than 3% of a 100K. Now, they knew, or should have, that the prices were way over inflated, and like all things based on false values, they eventually fail. so knowing this, they should have known that all that cream they took off the top was actually responsible for the failure. Take this perspective: say a house goes up 6% a year, a fair view, If that house sold every year, the only people that would make money would be the realtors. Usually, outside of the flippers who were also the scourge of the housing market, a house would be occupied a few years between sales. Take that 6% and times it by say 5 years and you have a 30% increase in the price of the House. There were years that the appraisers and the realtors were working overtime to raise the house prices, houses jumping 50-150%, criminal to say the least. Flippers were responsible for a lot of these ripoffs, but one must hold the appraisers and realtors culpable also. Now, who do we hold responsible? I'd say the greedy ass realtors deserve some of the blame, eh?

I guess I am a little bit country and a little bit rock-and-roll. I'm liberal in some ways and conservative in others. I'm definently not your latte sipping intellectual reading and playing on my computer in a starbucks, although, every once in a while I go through the drive through and get a vente caramel light frappachino, with whipped creme and extra caramel, yum. I am against illegals coming here to take jobs of any kind. In this economic climate, there should be plenty of american workers willing to take those jobs. The problem with those jobs, they don't pay enough to live. With the lowest rent around being about 800 bucks, how can anyone live on minimum wage. Talk about communism, one must live like a commie to survive. Three 4-5-6 people pooling their wages to afford to live in an apt, it is exactly how the latino immigrants (Illegals) live. We either have to learn to live like that or be homeless, So it is communism for the poor, but high times capitalism for the rich. I'm conservative with my spending, but that is mostly enforced by my income and I definently don't want to carry more than 1,000 bucks on my credit cards. My "new* truck, 5 years old and only 16,000 miles on it, will be paid off this time next year, so I'll be 500.00 a month richer, that will sure help. It's not fun being a poor guy, but compared to the rest of the world, I'm probably in the top 2%. That's what I tell myself whenever times get a little rough. I was just trying to point out that liberals are not just poor people bitching about being poor. We are normal citizens that care about what happens to the rest of America. When you have the Federal Reserve pumping money into the economy like crazy, then lowering interest rates to below market rates, coupled with Congress forcing lenders to lend to sub-prime borrowers, and no oversight on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac ... the system is set up for disaster. Because of government interference in the market, a skewed market is created. In a market like that, real estate agents are basically nothing more than order takers. The market dictates prices, both up and down ... not salespeople.
Now that the Federal Reserve is pumping trillions into the economy at the direction of the Erkel administration, and the inevitable rising inflation is upon us in a couple of years, are you going to blame the check-out person at the market when the price of bread is $10 a loaf?
And by the way, if the Realtors make so damned much money for doing nothing, why aren't you getting a real estate license? After all ... your retirement fund should be about half of what it was since Erkel took office.

Though, perhaps if they switched to a flat fee system instead of a percent fee system they wouldn't be catching illogical and irrational flak for the fact that they benefited from the Boom.
Though the biggest party that benefitted (and continues to benefit) from the boom are the State Governments.
More development, more roads, more gas usage, more property tax revenue, more gas tax revenue.
Of course the Government wanted people to own houses. Of course the government acted in its typical idiotic short term election focused fashion.
The average Politician is as dumb as a box of rocks, and about as capable of hard work as a ... Liberal...
