Quick rundown:

Once RECEIVED, Mail-in ballots are held separate & secure until AFTER polls close, in some cases, may hold them until after regular tabulation, then run (count) them. To stop the ballots GOING OUT *TO* voters would be time- & labor-intensive, prone to error (trying to exclude ballots to residents of Harris Co. zip codes would be both obvious and futile, for ex). From Paxton’s remarks, and having some familiarity w/ procedures, he could only act as he claims if he had the *returned* ballots secure & under his control; with no one meaningful to answer to, he might have gotten away with it.

Paxton’s chain of reasoning (as I envision it):
- 2 and a half MILLION uncounted mail-ins from the BLACKEST COUNTY IN TEXAS
- possible BIDEN win by 500k or more
- aw' HELL no - THAT ain’t-a gonna happen
- get those out of here!
- YES, all of them

Now that he’s in real trouble, he wants to win support by bragging about the lengths he went to for Feckless Fuckhead…for grift to beat / evade all the impeachment charges.

Still: stupid IS in fact what stupid does.
At about 30 seconds into the vid on that twitter feed was:

“If we'd lost Harris County—Trump won by 620,000 votes in Texas. Harris County mail-in ballots that they wanted to send out were 2.5 million, those were all illegal and we were able to stop every one of them,” Paxton told former Trump adviser Steve Bannon during the latter's War Room podcast on Friday

They weren't uncounted ballots, they were ballots he said were illegal and he said he stopped them from even being sent to the voter.

It's true in that Harris County Clerk Chris Hollins planned to send vote-by-mail applications to all 2.4 million registered voters in the county. Under Texas law only those 65 and older, sick or disabled, confined in jail or out of the county on election day are eligible to vote by mail.

The Texas attorney general sued Hollins for violating Texas election law, alleging that he acted out of his power as county clerk and that mass mailing of ballots would "sow confusion" for voters. The Texas Supreme Court ruled in October that that there was no evidence the pandemic would render the usual distribution of ballots inadequate, ultimately blocking Harris County from sending out applications to all registered voters.

New legislation in the Texas House would make it a felony for election officials to distribute "ballot or balloting materials," including absentee ballot applications, to voters who have not requested them. Texas is one of a handful of states where people do not automatically qualify to vote by mail. If implemented, HB 6 would further reduce the system for mail-in voting in Texas.

I love mail in voting. Texas's issue with mail in voting has nothing to do with people voting illegally.

Greene says McCarthy will release Jan. 6 tapes to three more outlets
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) announced Wednesday that three additional media outlets will receive access to footage from the Jan. 6 attacks on the Capitol.

“Huge news: As I promised the J6 tapes will be released,” Greene tweeted.

Greene said in her post that three outlets will receive “unfettered access to the J6 tapes,” noting that reporting on it will start Thursday. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), according to Greene, will give the tapes to Just the News founder John Solomon and Julie Kelly, a senior writer at American Greatness — but she did not mention what the third outlet would be.

Discussions over whether the Jan. 6 tapes should be released to media outlets ramped up earlier this year after McCarthy granted former Fox News host Tucker Carlson access to more than 44,000 hours of footage from the attacks on the Capitol. The move prompted criticism from Democrats and media pundits who warned that the footage could threaten security procedures at the Capitol.

When airing the footage on his program, Carlson described the attacks as “mostly peaceful chaos.”

That prompted Greene to reiterate her calls to publicly release all the Jan. 6 footage, saying earlier this month that she was “wondering” when the tapes would be released.

“We need to release the J6 tapes to a public on line source so that everyone knows what did and didn’t happen, we need to restore fair justice, and America can move on,” she tweeted at the time.

News organizations filed a lawsuit last month to gain access to the tapes, alleging that federal agencies have not given them the requested footage. The news organizations also wrote that they had asked McCarthy to grant them access to the footage.

“Plaintiffs have continued to press the Speaker’s Office for access to the videos as quickly as possible and on equal terms with other media requestors, only to be told that the Speaker’s Office will not even provide a timeline for when such access might begin,” the complaint states.

The outlets included in the lawsuit are Advance Publications, The Associated Press, CNN, CBS, The E.W. Scripps Company, Gannett, The New York Times, Politico and ProPublica.

The footage will end up in the public domain and lead to the arrest of even more of the J6 assholes as more of them are recognized by the public. They are fucking over their own useful idiots even more, and they up to about a thousand of them so far with more on the way.

Both mentioned outlets are rated by MBFC as “right to extreme right” and of Questionable factuality.
I am shocked, shocked I tell you

I saw the name John Solomon, who had been discredited for promoting falsehoods on The Hill about invesigations on Trump and "the people out to get him". Wonder why all (real) news outlets will not be given a copy?

both greene and jordan voted FOR the bill....I am surprised, i thought they would be leading the charge to unseat mccarthy over this.
Perhaps they figured out that if the coat tails they're riding disappear, so do they.
Jordan is not an idiot, he says (lies) what he says as a means to an end. Greene, I just avoid reading or listening to much of what she says so I can not comment on her. Most likely she was given her marching orders.

It is almost as if legitimate news firms might find discrepancies in the “peaceable tourist activities” narrative being pushed by Liar Tuck and his merry mendacious.

The belief is widespread among republicans and others that they are circling the drain of history, winners don't cheat, they don't need to, losers lie cheat and steal because it is their only chance. Who is doing all the lying, cheating, rigging, stealing and voter suppression, who is breaking the law, coddling domestic terrorists, who is caught for the voter fraud cases and who makes the death threats to election officials?

Trump put Christie's ass in the corner. That was fine. Christie can never come back from that. Trump does his best when someone tries to fight with him, he knows how to score points with the pool of people they are competing over.

Steve says it true. It's insane to hope that Trump runs against Biden in '24. Trump is unfit for office, he endangers our democracy and even a slim chance of him winning the election is too large of a risk to hope for..

If states are implementing laws that give election officials the ability to override election results, trump could lose the election and still become president.

I think Donald will be in jail or prison by election day and on trial during the primaries, his usefulness is as a divider and keeping the republicans off balance until the primaries. If he loses the nomination, which I believe he will, he will probably run as an independent and do it from prison, his fans will need to write him in on the ballot in most places and millions will. If the republicans loose 10 or 20% of their base they are screwed nationally no matter who their nominee is. Donald is going down over the MAL documents soon and might not get bail or if he does, he will sweat for it, he faces very serious charges and there is a consensus among all legal experts that he's fucked!
