Well done, Ryan

He makes a lot of great points & none of them score for P’25…which is a pleasant surprise. Especially telling is that all - ALL - of the good points are simply organizational due diligence, structural boilerplate like we see in the NDAA every 2 years (it’s how we get around the ‘no standing army’ clause (main underpinning of 2nd is the militia (which is *why* no standing army & the whole quartering soldiers thing))…and have nothing whatever to do with an otherwise completely ideological document

talk about your band-aid’s-worth of standing…taking a moment to imagine the cacophony from Magadonia to a progressive work-project with the same breathless conspiratorial tone & repetition of core falsehoods & collateral deceptions as Project2025…but for *this* they expect full faith & credit form”good intentions”

but, ooh, the military! USA! USA!!! USA!!!!!
Thank you for your service - now jump thru these hoops & fuck off

Police in a suburban New York county have made their first arrest under a new law banning face masks
Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, a Republican who signed the mask ban into law earlier this month, said Sunday’s arrest showed the rule is working.

“Our police officers were able to use the mask ban legislation as well as other factors to stop and interrogate an individual"

Gun control initiatives to be left off Memphis ballot after GOP threat to withhold funds
Earlier this year, the Memphis City Council approved a proposal to ask voters if they wanted to tweak the city charter to require permits to carry a handgun, ban the possession of AR-15 style rifles and implement a so-called red flag ordinance, which allows law enforcement officials to remove firearms from those found to be an imminent danger to themselves or others.
The council had acknowledged at times that they were potentially risking the ire of the Republican-dominant Legislature since the measures likely conflict with Tennessee’s lax gun laws.

Regardless, council members representing the large Black-majority, left-leaning city said they were willing to take the risk.
