Be careful venting out a chimney if it's used for house heating exhaust. It really shouldn't be done because it can allow exhaust gasses to back flow into the house. If you are going to do it put a back flow preventer in line.
we confused you...I was just calling it the "chimney hole" because it is on top of the tent, looks like a chimney....
I got a couple more questions tho about my led, and my tent size,
how far should that light be from p[lants? im thinking 12 inches? at the closeset?
and...
what would the ideal pot size be for a tent 2x2x4? I am wondering if a 5 gal bucket would be overkill.....
im totally new to led, so forgive the noobness

I have 4 individual led lights. I keep the 350 watt lights at 24" and the 150 watt lights at 18" over tops. Passive intake is enough, be sure to add a nice oscilating fan to increase circulation. Np.

i am going to build a grow room 3' x 4' x 7 ' tall in an out building. Will old computer fans be enough
for intake & exhaust?I will be using a 400 watt full spectrum LED light which does not put out alot
of heat,I,m also want to keep the noise from the fans down also.

sorry degadogg
no chance, there designed to keep a computer case cool and they don't do a very good job at that if you do any light overclocking

min you need is 5" ruck fan and carbon filter to stop any Oder and keep the room cool
and that depends on how warm it gets, could need a 5" intake fan and a 6" exhaust fan
its all trial and error

Ok thanks for the info.Where could I purchase these fans and also what is the ideal temperature for the grow room?I will be trying to grow in the wintertime and my shed is does not have heat or air cond.I may have to use a small space heater to get desired temp. Thanks for any info you can help me with.

in the winter grow autos with the light on 24h's
look on Google you can buy ruck fans on a lot of different sites, eBay, amazon ect

your looking for 25c-30c lights on

Has anyone ever tried using a Y connector connected to the hood and the carbon filter inside via ducting for smell prevention? Which would also still bring in new air from vents. Venting it all outside keeping hood heat away from the tent temp.

Outside===>reflector=== >Y-split--one end into the hood--one end into a carbon filter--Y-split===> exahust fan==>outside

no but thats a great ideal

why not have carbon filter, fan, y pice, 2 air cool light and out the tent, both lights would be the same temps and you would get a higher air flow

Went with the 6" booster for my 2x2x4 tent...works great! the 4" booster surely wouldn't had done it, so good thing. Now if i could just mcguyver a way to control it with a cheap thermostat, i'd be set.

Do you think I might be able to get away with using 4" fans,my area is only 12 sq. ft., or should I go ahead and get the 6" fans?
