exhaust/ac light questions

my grow room is in a basement and i was curious to know what opinions were as to which is more advisable. to pull air from outside (its getting cold out where i am) to cool my lights/room and then vent that out to a corner in the basement out side of my grow area or would it be better to pull the air from my grow room and out the window ( to my backyard) and maybe just have an intake fan pulling air in from another window or just from a cooler area in the basement?

hi, depends on a couple of things, whats the temps like? are you set on air cooled hoods?, i was cooling hoods seperatly and filtering seperatly but had to exhaust into the same room so ambient temps built up, so then went filter to lights straight out and powered and passive intake in and for some reason temps dropped and are now great??!!! as its getting cooler now you obviously dont want to be pumping too colder air in and get temp swings etc but maybe having a passive from the room its in and a powered intake on a speed controller would allow for ballencing temps as we change weather,
hope ive made some sort of sense?

im leaning towards pulling the air inside during these cold months and exhausting out the room to a corner in my basement through my filter. but hopefully a few more ppl will provide input on which is the better option

yeah i thought about the too cold thing too. i do have a temp controller that i can control the fan blowing in to turn on/shut off at the desired temp set.

yeah that's cool if you've got passive aswell so then your still getting the right air exchange if the intake fan is off, the way your looking at doing it is how I am running and its working fine as we speak, if temps go too far down in winter ill be removing the glass on the ac hoods lets face it having it too cold will be nicer to deal with then too hot!!

Depending on how cold your air is...you could run into issues. Whatever the cold air touches cools the object, if it cools it too much (below the dew point) condensation will form on the object.
This can cause a lot of mold issues. Just something to watch out for.

hmm....that is a good point. so you think its better to exhaust out thn?
