exhaust fan silencer?

do you know if an exhaust fan silencer exist at all? My exhaust fan is just to loud and I can hear it through out the house. Since I live in an apartment I don't think my neighbors would like it to much. Any one has any suggestion on how I would tone down the sound.

check out a thread i think its either called the noise control thread or sshhhh, the neighbors can hear you, the noise control thread.. theres several good diy's in there that cover what your looking for..

i use a speed controll it cuts down on noise by putting it at half speed

can you use one of those fan controlers on all inline fan's.. or only certain ones.. i was thinking of one of them for my active air, but then i thought that i read somewhere that it wouldn't work for my type of fan or something like that??

sorry im not sure i got it when i got my 4inch inline fan i think its bassed on weather or not your fan can run efficently at low speed i think some may burnout if to slow? and what watts/amps/volts w/e it is
