Exhaust fans with control possibly hyper fan 8 inch

I've been researching exhaust fans for my 4 by 4 at first I was going to get a hurricane 6 inch for 80 bucks. Now I think I may go with the hyperfan 8 inch because it's efficient and comes with a proper controller as the fan is digital and has a different motor than most. What do people think of these hyperfans?

Is there anything better that comes with a real controller?

I know you can add a cheap control to any fan but I was reading that's not the proper way to do it. Even if you buy the control for 50 that lowers the voltage that still isn't good for the fan. The proper ones for most fans are like 300 dollars.

Im in Australia so pretty sure our market here would be different. We have the hyperfans, atleast I think theyre the same. Never had one but I know theyre made in China. You can get these German fans start with a B cant remember the brand, meant to be the dux nuts but pretty expensive. Ive just got myself a Whisper Silent 150mm fan for my new tent, dont know if you can get them there. Im sick of my jet engine centris.

I just hooked up a 8" hyper fan, i bought it for efficiency. At 50% power it is drawing less than 1/2 an amp. I am using it in a 10ft x 13 ft room. if you are in a 4ft x 4ft room you probably only need a 4" fan. 8" is way too much, it's over 700 cfm.

I have a hyperfan 6", it's got great static pressure and the controller works well. It's only running with a filter atm, at even 50% speed it looks like it's gonna suck my tent through the filter, it's usually at like 1/4 speed.

Just read that article and I had no idea that youre not meant to use the standard fan speed controllers on the market... We also have a Phresh silenced fan over here on the market with a built in speed controller.

I think the hyper fan is the same as the phresh silenced fan. Phresh makes hyper so probably just a different name.

I was thinking the 6 inch at first but the price is only 30 bucks more for 8 inch. I figure I can turn it really low and quiet if I get an 8 inch. how large is your room?

Yep and its called airforce 2 and now isomax in the uk they are the same as phresh but they may just of copied the design in china, pretty sure ruck own the one I have and they are german with swiss bearings.
8" turned down should be quiet but mine came with a built in speed controller which hums like a twat when turned down. Make sure the speed controller is not like a simple switch on the wire like mine was.
BTW they are pretty big, be sure you can fit it in your tent with filter. mine takes up a good chunk of space in a 4x8 tent

This ^
The box it came in has phresh info all over it ;) but the fan itself is the hyper 6".
On it's lowest setting I hear the 120mm fans cooling the cobs over the exhaust fan, so I'm happy.

It's a 2x4x7 tent, it's small as shit for something this powerful. The 8" would prolly be overkill for a 4x4 but for another 30 bucks why not lol. Dial it down, save power and reduce noise.

Interesting I did see somethign about the german on before on another site I can't find it though.

Is this the same design but just a knockoff? https://www.amazon.com/VIVOSUN-Inline-Variable-Controller-Ventilation/dp/B01DXYMJ94/ref=pd_sbs_60_22?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B01DXYMJ94&pd_rd_r=MDQ70F3RNRJQGG7Y47XP&pd_rd_w=axPi4&pd_rd_wg=OwmrQ&psc=1&refRID=MDQ70F3RNRJQGG7Y47XP

That link looks like what we know as TT fans here, they are terribly noisy and poorly made or at least in my experience. I bought a few when I first started and swiftly changed to inline rucks and the airforce 2 I have now.
The box on the side is just a wire junction and the variable speed controller will be just a cheapo rather than adjusting voltage it turns on/off in ms which creates a hum. The airforce 2 I have is a better fan but the speed controller is the same. That's where the problem is, I'm still waiting on a variac coming in the post so I can chop the speed controller off.
Heres the one I have. https://www.somhydro.co.uk/products/ruck-can-fan-isomax-acoustic-3-speed-fans
I bought I about 6 years ago and I believe it was the first on the market of this type. Never saw any others and I spent a lot of time looking. Since then there seems to be a lot of them with different names but it does seem the same product is often just marketed under a different name depending on where in the world you live.
I have seen pictures of the phresh fans and hyper with what looks like a proper variac on the side. I guess they figured out if your selling a quality fan you need a quality speed controller to match.
I cant fault the fan itself really, it ran for years without ever turning off and it moves a shit load of air. Still going strong now but I cant wait to chop of the crappy speed controller.

I see it says can fan isomax they have this one on amazon I looks similar but only has three speeds. The hyper and these can fans like the max have a different motor inside it's a dc motor I believe and that allows them to be control more easily than the ac motors in the centrifuge design.
Also much more efficient but then I was also reading that adding a filter to these can drop the cfm by 50-40 percent. I also saw someone else say the opposite that they have better efficiency than normal centrifugal designs.

Buy the hyper fan you won't regret it! It's worth it in the long run it comes with a 5 year warranty. My 3x3 foot all I need is tbe 6inch at %35 and you can't hear it with your ear right up to it

This! I just picked up my 8 inch silenced hyperfan. Running set at minimum 50% and it is just so quiet! (got a size bigger than i need so it wouldn't have to be running at 100% and be at their loudest) Amazing how something that moves that much air can be as quiet as this. simple design, probably not that difficult to make them if you really wanted to. but really great fans.

They are pretty big though yes, the 8 inch one isn't what id call compact. the bigger models must be humungous.
