Exhaust

So I have an older HID with a hood that only has a single outlet to vent heat ( as in not a through venting scenario )... to this point am I better off pulling my main exhaust through the hood ( leaving the glass cover off) or just exhausting the whole tent and not worrying about it...? I’d rather not have to buy a second (smaller ) filter and fan.

If you have good air intake passive or not I’d leave the glass on it and leave one side open to pull the air from the tent through the light to the fan and out

Its useless if you plan on filtering the air and ducting the heat outside as it should be done.
Need a hood with in and out then you can use a single fan/filter in most situations.

Unless he blows into the filter which is dumped outside of the tent.

I would go glass off, pull air through the hood to keep the air around the bulb moving. Fan and filter outside the tent, fan sucking through the hood, pushing into the filter.

If you just generally vent the tent heat will build up in your hood and radiate vs being quickly exchanged.

Yeah but that's not the right way to vent though, doesn't remove heat from the room or exchange the air in the room and replenish co2 or remove humidity from the room.
Though it works in small set ups.

Another option is using an inline filter which would allow the whole lot to be vented out the window though.

As you are aware, it all depends on the situation.
