This is just me thinking out loud. But we all read the questions from newbies like myself. And then read 40 different opinions on that question. How great would it be if there was someone to help walk you threw that first grow or two. I know that's what this is kinda about. But I think if people had one person they can talk to and rely on with good sound advice that would be awesome. Some one who has a few grows under there belt. ( succesfull grows ). It gets hard with 7 diff opinions on things like nutes or soil or whatever. I don't know. Maybe I'm just high.

This is a great idea but you won't find it on a forum I don't believe. Find someone on your life that you trust with experience and have them help I am doing this for a friend right now. If that's not possible read everything you can and gain first hand experience, in a couple years you will be very comfortable with your own growing style.

Hard to expect someone that is busy with their life to come here and help you every step through a grow. When you ask a question you will get a bunch of answers and most likely the right thing to do is in those answers just need to do research and figure out your own growing technique.

Part of the problem is that there well always be more newbies than there are experienced growers to guide them. Another issue is that a certain percentage of newbies don't want to do the research or put in the work to be successful in the endeavor. They want to throw up some lights and yield a million pounds. Here is what i will say about this site... i feel like if you demonstrate to these folks that you have done your homework and are putting in the effort to do the best you can there are definitely some folks on here who will dedicate some of their time to give you one on one assistance. If you are lucky enough to connect with those people make certain you appreciate the hell out of them and absorb every ounce of knowledge you can. Good luck out there everyone.

you make a soup with many ingredients, it takes time and knowledge to understand the process's of each ingresient. Same with the information here at RIU, you take some, leave some and forget about the rest. I have been doing this for 8 years and finally have got my grows dialed to where i want them, soil, nutes, lights, vent,,,etc..it takes time and you will learn more doing it yourself rather than following someone else.

Nano... yeah i compare it to learning the guitar I have had numerous people over the years want me teach them
not one has been willing to put in any kind of work, barely learning to tune the thing but they love saying "i play guitar"

you have to decide what advice best suits your situation when dealing with any forum. it is good to get advice from multiple sources even if it doesnt suit you because it will get you thinking differantly sometimes. its the same thing at work. if im having a problem i have about 8 guys i can ask for help. its still up to me to figure out whos full of shit and who has the best idea.

if you dont want to take the ideas thrown at ya and do the research to see if the ideas will work, than you really should consider maybe just sitting on the couch n watching tv as a hobby.

Been helpin new growers for years, best thing a new grower can do is to read a Botany 101 book, Google "Al Tapla" and read everything you can find (the medium I use is based on his Gritty Mix). Read Linda Chalker Scott she has a PhD
http://puyallup.wsu.edu/~linda chalker-scott/Horticultural Myths_files/index.html
read the growth chamber handbook ,,
http://www.controlledenvironments.org/Growth_Chamber_Handbook/Plant_Growth_Chamber_Handbook.htm

With just these 4 things under your belt, you will better be able to pick the good answers out of the 40 different responses in these forums and have a clue about what is real and what is nonsense. Most of what is spread in these forums is mythical nonsense

Read this to know the truth about how a plant uses the soil, and how the soil uses the plant!

Teaming with Microbes: The Organic Gardener's Guide to the Soil Food Web, Revised Edition: Jeff Lowenfels, Wayne Lewis: 9781604691139: Amazon.com: Books

I might add a book more specific to MM at this point......There are MANY good ones. This is good for starters and and is not "over the head" for beginners.

Marijuana Grower's Handbook: Your Complete Guide for Medical and Personal Marijuana Cultivation: Ed Rosenthal, Tommy Chong: 9780932551467: Amazon.com: Books

Knowing as much as you can before you actually start is a good thing!

I might suggest you actually grow a "house plant" as you read for hands on experience with indoor growing. If you can grow an African Violet,,,,,you won't have troubles with MM..

If growing was an exact science, you could go to a grow store and buy a box with everything you need. But it is more like an art. Different variables, different styles, different levels of skill. Read a lot and take what suits you. Remember the very best growers wouldn't bother revealing their best kept secrets. Get a couple of well reviewed books on the subject. Start small. And keep repeating, It's just a weed... it's just a weed... it's just a weed.

Oh... If your willing to go with CFLs and be happy getting eight ounces, there is a CFL grow book featured in the CFL section of this site. That book helped me immensely, It has a picture of a good growing pot plant, one for each day of growth!

I have told several people that. If you don't have a green thumb house plants are a good start. Also growing different types of flowers from seed out doors.

Leave most of what you see here behind. Keep it simple.

There are more than a few that give good advice. Hang around a bit and you will notice who.

Another thing to look for is people who have run the same gear, used the same light, medium etc.. helps get very specific info that closely relates to what you're working with.

Yeah everyone grows different. I am all about te hempy bucket method. It is so easy and carefree to do. My advice would be to go through the journal section and pick out a successful grow style you like, has the results you want with pics and set up your grow using that as an example. Same seeds nutes light whatever fits your plan.
