Experimental Grow

you know what? I think you're right: bending the main stem could be a good idea :)
that's what I did on my bagseed but I started way sooner :| that's why I thought you should ask in a specific thread

the "resistance" thing is simply something to keep the plant short - and that's what I'm doing on my other plant, WW (you won't find updated pix of this one on my thread tho :( )
well, good luck - will keep an eye on the grow ;) :blsmoke:
Yea I know, could be too late...but after meditating on it over night I've decided to just do it. Should be interesting... Stay tuned.

wow doctor looking dam good certainly got my attention on this one subscribed!!! stones.....fuckin brilliant!!
Why thank you soonhighrightnow. Good to have you along for the ride... tis getting quite interesting now.

i dont want to burst your bubble but this seems to be hydroponics with you doing all the work haha. you know what i mean. rocks are like clay pellets and your like a water pump. but you must have a green thumb if you can grow in rocks.
Thanks for droppin in mate. But yea I thought that too but its a bit different... I mean with the original 10% soil and now 25% it sort of removes it from that category...but with the constant waterings (3 a day) early on I can see how that conclusion is reached. Ill call it Half-Hydro coz it seems to have elements from both at times. But now Im watering every 2 days... and Im using soil nutes.

Well just after my last post I did a lil LST on my girl. Pulled the top to one side and am pulling a side branch out a lil the other way. Already mostly bent back towards the light. It looks way better than it does in the pics I must say (cant really see the branching structure in the pics....dont know why it doesnt really come across well). Seems like it should develop nice structure. Fingers crossed.

Disregard the yellow dead old leaf...I know its ugly but Ill let it drop off when its ready. Re the yellowing, it onto the next set BUT seems to be slowing down (hope it not just me being optimistic). Still no nute burn so I gave it another feed today as well...

Cant wait to see how this attempted LST works out.

Rock's for soil, now LST , this really is a learning sesion , i just cant wait to see how it turns, cant we just just fastfoward the entire thing ? happily we cant, or we would miss the entire growth , witch make's our but seem the best, dosent it ?

have you given any thought to adding a drip sistem of some sort ? ( i would stick with the hand watering, just get's you closer to the lovely looking girl )

Peace!

Yea I hear ya...just cant wait to see how she turns out, but as you say, its nurturing it from seed to harvest that makes it all the more worthwhile and satisfying.

The thought of some kind of drip system did cross my mind early on when I was watering 3 times a day but now Im down the watering every 2 days so its no hassle now...and yea, I enjoy the waterings as its an excuse for me to chill with my girl for a bit. lol.

LST is great once you get a grasp of it. You'll love the results, so much more growth from the lower smaller branches.

Yea after reading quite a few grows using LST I couldnt really go past it...not with CFLs anyways. I originally looked at it as an "advanced technique" and so shied away and didnt really consider it...but then realized its a simple technique that can really improve your plant. Really looking forward to see how it turns out for me.

Seems to be going well so far...lower growth is already responding and growing well. I must say at this point I do miss the pre-LST plant a lil just for aesthetic reasons. Meh, not a biggie.

UPDATE:

Good news...GREAT NEWS! The yellowing of the fan leaves has halted in the last 24hrs and seems to be reversing. WOOHOO! I was worried it could be a PH problem resulting in lock out as it was clearly a nute problem...but then I was thinking that the medium (being so low in soil) wasnt holding onto enough nutrients long enough for the plant to be able take them up. This was cemented by the fact that I'd given her a few strongish feedings (by normal standards) and she showed no signs of receiving ferts at all...and no nute burn. SO, over the last few days I've given her a strong feed (3 feeds in 4 days) and now she has finally responded.

I'll post a full Update later today with pics. She is looking nice and I think she's responding well to the LST.

Till then...
Peace

UPDATE WITH PICs:

It never looks as good in the pictures as it does in real life....think that must be down to my limited photography skills.

Hmmm and I've been thinking I should name my girl...any suggestions? I was thinkin maybe Gabby...Gabby Ganja. Or Hazel, full name Hazel Herb. lol. Whaddaya reckon?

Yes she's flowering. Been on 12/12 since the 13th, so day 9 now...and she showed her sex at day 5 (hence the 'she'). And yea, as she matures she's getting sexier and sexier every day lol

UPDATE:
Progressing well. Yellowing has stabled. LST seems to have worked a charm...got 2 extra tops coming up nicely.

And here you can see the smallest flowering marijuana plant you've ever seen...tis the one I got of my mate. Compare it to the seedling in the pic with it. ITS TINY!

And a close up of the tiny bud

Enjoy!

Its really started to stretch in the last few days...node spacing is huge now as you can see from pic 3. Having to move the lights 1 or 2 times a day now. Is this because of the lights? Flowering growth spurt?
Either way, tomorrow I'll be getting 2 more lights, 25watters for 50 extra watts for a grand total of 178watts (giving me between 7000-11000 lumens (i dont know exactly as i dont know the lumen output for a couple of the cfls so have to guesstimate)).

She's beginning to get really nice n hair now.

Thoughts? Comments? Critiques? All welcome.

Peace

yes 178w is more like 11.000 lumens (average efficiency of cfls is 60-63 lumens per watt) so it's ideal

& very good loking plant... nothing to say about her really :)
maybe you can try to tie a lil bit downward the main stem with another string - if it's not too thick already - so that it's like at the same height of the other sprouts?
(EDIT: you may do it gradually also, 2-3 steps to reach the desired bending)

sorry just a thought since I'm doing something like this and is working fine with me to make the most of cfls - so just trying to help hope I'm not bothering you! :)
peace

She looking good map, the gravel work's wonder's for you :)

The lst is looking just fine, but i think you should try trifase's ideea, tie down that top ... should get a few more shoot's and get the existing shoot's bigger .

Keep it up D map, let's see that girl go crazy :D

Peace !

yeah these guys are right
every thing looks great
but to take your lst to the next level , the real point of it is to make all the tops (new and old) the same height all most like a scrog
maybe next grow you can experiment with this more now that you see that it works. re. as new tops grow and as the main stem grows try to keep tiying every thing down to make all the tops the same height. if 1 top is allowed to grow taller then the others the plant will start focusing all of the energy to growing just that one top, like in a x-mas tree, tiying down must be done even through out flowering

Yea you guys are totally right...so I've bent the top down and tied it off, should even it up a lot more once it rights itself. Ill take a pic later to show what I've done and you guys will have to tell me if I've done ok. Looks good to me.

Cheers for the very helpful words of advice...

UPDATE: with PICs

Its lookin pretty good if I do say so myself  You can sorta see the LST I've done in the last pic...considering I wasn't going to do it and then did it late, I'm happy with it. Am worried that the pots is going to be to small...can see quite a few roots popping out the holes. Couple weeks into flower...too late to repot or should it be fine?
