I know it was a decade ago and you probably don't remember, but did you take a trip to the CC the year Mongoose was giving away a vacation and judges pass to whoever won a story-writing competition? My handle has been potroast since 1995.

reply my last run uas a "island sweet skunk" i did one plant in a scrog and pulled 17.3oz. off it. that was dry. had 49 colas on it. it sure can be done just not with every plant you grow. get the right strain and scrog. so i guess all the breeders that how mush each strain can produce is lying. i wont run a strain that wont go at least 400 grams.Actually, Grams Per Watt *is* a joke, and I made it up to be a joke. Yes, I was the one who first posted that saying, and I did it as a light-hearted comment.
Back in the mid-nineties on the original pot-growing forum, (ADPC) I posted a funny saying that I made up from a TV commercial back then. It was a commercial for California Almonds, and their catch phrase was "A Can a week, that's all we ask."
So I posted "A gram a watt, that's all I ask." It was just something clever to say. Next thing I know the guys on the new OverGrow forum were talking about that as a measure of success. Then it caught on, and it was mentioned on other forums. It has been mentioned ever since then, similar to this thread.

I always thought those strain guides were estimated how much a strain would produce, per square meter, per 1000w HPS.reply my last run uas a "island sweet skunk" i did one plant in a scrog and pulled 17.3oz. off it. that was dry. had 49 colas on it. it sure can be done just not with every plant you grow. get the right strain and scrog. so i guess all the breeders that

G/w doesn't say anything about space or time, just electrical use. You could get 15g from 15w. But, if you did that in 4 sq ft the resulting 1g/w wouldn't be very efficient for the space used.Grams per watt is just a way to tell you how efficiently you are using your space and time.
In one word - stupidity.Ok i don't really understand the whole grams per watt concept.
It's all your fault! You started this stupid ass paradigm!?Actually, Grams Per Watt *is* a joke, and I made it up to be a joke. Yes, I was the one who first posted that saying, and I did it as a light-hearted comment.

Lol. I made a mistake as a new-b on a gun forum. We were talking about where you were allowed to defend yourself and where you can't, and I naively misstated the gun free area as a PFZ, short for pistol free zone. Truthfully, there is no such thing as there is no place in the law (hunting excluded) that bars pistols, but would allow long guns. I became pretty infamous on the forums, and as a result, people, even my enemies to this day use the acronym, PFZ incorrectly.Actually, Grams Per Watt *is* a joke, and I made it up to be a joke. Haha, I was paranoid as a mofo to post on newsgroups(still did, only a couple/few times). Shit, I was paranoid to post here up to last yearIt's all your fault! You started this stupid ass paradigm!?
Potroast and I go way back....back to the days where there was no Vbulletin formats and everyone was paranoid. We'd spend more time discussing how to post discretely than growing (not really, but we were weird back then). We used encryption and sent our messages thru chain linked public servers.
Speaking of stupid, pH tried to push off this unconfirmed yield reporting system he nicknamed Yield-O-Rama. He and I would getting into this hydro versus soil pissin' contests. Then there was Rachet and his 100W/gram bullshit. Had to unscrew the guy from the ceiling after I asked him if he was growing canaries on sticks.
Those were the dayz........
