You'll also get compacted soil over time watering that heavily. Find something that is more gentle if you can. No harm to the plant as far as the root being exposed short term, so you're good there. I am a wacko and I water with a turkey baster to avoid the issue. It's not for everyone as it takes a lot longer.

Lmao about the turkey baster and yea I noticed the watere hitting the top soil pretty hard I think I need to go slower for sure...man I hope putting this new soil on top doesn't burn my plants..I think they are far along enough to handle it tho

thats how they make those cool bonsai.i used to do it with a rock under the plant then when roots grow nice and big remove the rock and leave the plant above ground you get a octopus type of tree looking bonsai its cool
