I finally had a free day to really inspect the flowers of my unknown bagseed outdoor plant which is around mid-week 8 today, and found the unmistakeable beginnings of bud rot on one bud site on a low, small branch (white fluff, brown plant matter, black spots) and immediately cut off the branch.
I took a chopstick and throroughly poked through all the rest of the buds on the plant, and though nothing looked obviously like the rot I found, and 99% looks totally healthy, there were just a few spots that looked like this
Dead center there, with that dark streaking, some kind of dead-looking plant matter, but not the same as what I found in my bud earlier today. Most of the spots with areas like that are crunchy, not soft, and I could sometimes flick away the darker material with my chopstick and sort of break it off of the surrounding bud.
But, there’s also these faint dark specks on the stem nearby:
To those with more experience fighting botrytis, does this look like super early signs of a larger infection? I’ve also seen the occasional web strand on the buds, so maybe I’m seeing some spider mites? I can’t quite get the magnification I need to be able to tell with the loupe I have.
If I am dealing with rot, and those small areas of dark crunchy stuff are present at at least one spot on each cola, should I just chop this girl? To help inform that decision, here’s how the bud actually looks
I really appreciate any help at all, this shit is gonna keep me up all night wondering if I need to go chop the plant to save the few nugs I have ASAP
