I just set mine up. It says do not used distilled water. Tap water isn't distilled right? What kind of water do you guys use? I was just going to use regular tap water, is this OK. Thanks.
I have more questions. But, I need to take some pics to get them answered. So as soon as I figure that out and run some errands, I'll be back with more:mrgreen:

Oh yeah. Do I have to buy some of that rooting gel. How much does it speed up the rooting process by? Or will my clones not root at all without it?

One more question. Do the clones have to have 24/0 lighting? I'm going to throw them into flower as soon as they root anyways. So will they still root under 12/12?

1) I only use distilled water and have never had a problem.....not sure why it would not work and have never heard not to use it
2)The powder/gel not only gives your plants hormones that it otherwise can not get without a root structure, it also prevents air bubbles from getting into the stem, killing your plants. So the root gel/powder will give you more healthy plants. Without it im sure some (but not all) will die. Besides that its only like $3 at home depot for a bottle to last you a year or so.
3)I have never not used a 18/6 cycle during clone. Just seems like too much stress to throw it into flower right after clipping. I atleast give it 2-3 weeks to get some roots down. Someone eles may be of more help if they have experimented.

Hope this helps

Wow thanks a lot man. That helps a lot. I didn't know it was so cheap, I'll pick up some today. Also it say on the instructions- Do not use distilled water in the EZ Clone, it will delay progress. So is tap water distilled water or not, sorry I'm :dunce:

And if anyone can answer number 3 I would appreciate it. They have been in flower for 4 days now, if that helps, and they are just starting to show sex

Oh yeah and I forgot. I have some clonex nutrient type shit that is supposed to get mixed in with the water. Is that supposed to take the place of rooting gel or just use both?

Sorry for all the questions, this is my first time cloning and I want to make sure I do it right.

tap water isnt distilled.... im pretty sure thas why they sell it in stores and such....

distilled water is like taking all the chlorine and other shit out.....

i got a question for you....

on the cloner....when they root....how are you gon transfer them? from my understanding of these cloning things, you cant use RW or rooterplugs....just straight root?

would that be ideal for grodan growcubes, coco coir, and slabs and such????

People say if you leave tap water out for 24 hours then the chemicals will evaporate and it will be "distilled" water. But if you have ever seen the junk floating in the bottom of a water glass in my city, then you would not trust that. Just go to the store and buy purified drinking water, its like 70 cents a gallon.

As for the clonex nutrient, i have never used it or an EZ clone. I clone mine in an areogarden and use sponges stuffed in a hopper as the medium.
The clone gel/powder give your plants hormones needed to root faster....but the hormones are almost secondary to the fact it prevents air bubbles from getting into the stem of the plant. If it gets an air bubble the plant will die within hours....and thats no good. Just buy the gel.

You can also take the tap water test it find out what the ph is and the ec. The test is this take the tap water and boil it this should get rid of the (bad) stuf out and you don't have to wait 24 hours and you don't have to pay for water.
