Always good replys budd, thanks. couple things to think about.. and yeah it dosent look to dense but its quite a solid bud had a lot of weight to it and was far from spongy. Thanks again for the reply always good imputs from you.
Please don't take that the wrong way as I don't mean they are airy.. just less dense, it was only to make the point on surface area. Maybe bigger buds can get similarly dense to medium buds outside with the far greater sun intensity. Indoor they seem to begin to suffer in density the bigger they get allowing moisture to kinda seep in at certain locations if air circulation/spacing isn't perfect. I've never seen any rot in medium size dense buds in locations where the bigger buds have suffered. It may be subjective, so keep that in mind.

I use to love the sight of forearm length fat buds but now they remind of nothing but rot risk. Ofc people can grow them with 0 issues but it's a mix between luck or a very well tuned set-up.

I just chopped bout 7 grams of bud rot from a mikro machine auto by kannabia.its been going about 14 weeks and i wreckon theres another week to 2 weeks left.
Not sure if i should chop it all or try finish her.

i had a quattro kush i had topped, had 4 nice colas, all 4 got bud rot. threw out half the weight of the plant, other half is still in tent.
they were big, sorta loose buds, compared to black dog and a few others i9n that tent with denser buds, no others had any mold, very selective

So topping more will create create smaller but more dense buds? Interesting
Not just by itself, it also creates a more even canopy within light range so that helps too. That can also be achieved with small plant single cola sog grows, it's the same principle, as is vertical circular cage growing. Just putting that in there as you can use multiple techniques/layouts to achieve the same goal.

I know this is old, sort of, but shouldn't you be able to treat bud rot the same way you do pwm post harvest?

Just dunk it in a large bath of h202/water solution and then hang and dry. Kills all the mold spores so no need to worry about lung issues.

Does not afgect quality in any way what so ever.

I was just reading about this yesterday. Some folks were saying to "wash" the buds in an H2O2 solution before drying/curing to prevent bud rot. Some of the folks doing that were even drying in their fridge for a "low and slow" dry. They called it The Lotus Cure. Curious what others think of this. (Sorry not much help to your question. Just wanted to "tag" the conversation)

I can't tell the difference with the same bud, same grow but ome washed in h202 and one not and I've been using for 20 years and vaping for 10 of those. Not saying I'm a connoisseur or anything just saying I have some experience and reference points. I wash every harvest just to be safe because I use enough that it matters to me.

H202 decomposes into water and oxygen so I'm not sure what your tasting?

this is exactly why I love scroging. You trade the huge buds for many more medium sized ones. I find that only the large buds will ever get this bud blight shit. Anyway treat it like a tumor and cut it out or it will spread. I would remove the whole bud, not just a piece of it. I'm a paranoid person so it's up to you what to do.

Also the h2o2 oxidizes whatever comes in contact with. This is what they are tasting. Oxidized buds and mold, yummy!
