failure at topping??

I topped my plant about a week ago, ever since he hasn’t grown vertically at all. He has only grown the little leaves at the bases of the leaves. Can anyone tell me what stage it is in, and what I should do to help it live out the rest of its cycle? (The light I switched to last week is a 600watt led so the plant is much less dark green)8EF748CE-C96B-456C-A31E-6EDEE67D67EC.jpeg02AEA0B9-B97D-4477-9588-0726DA1BD570.jpegD1C6CD4B-B761-4459-B046-F4913029BBF4.jpeg

The plant looks like it stretched a lot already, could be due to the old light being too weak or too far away.

Beware LED lights that claim they are XXX watts. You should be able to see somewhere on the data sheet for the light what the actual wattage drawn from the wall is. Could say 600w but the actual wattage drawn usually is much lower say 100w. Do you have a link to the new light? How far is it from the plant top now? Average LED wattage per sq ft of grow space required is about 35-50 watts.

My led is 135 actual watts, and it is almost exactly 23” away from this one because o read somewhere that I should have it 24-18 away from vegging ones (I’m assuming it is already vegging not certain)

thats the whole point of topping it slows upward growth and promotes side branching to grow!!
Apologies, I assumed it would continue its upward pace while making more stems (I don’t really know what’s Going on too much this The first plant I’ve ever tried)

Plants need to recover after cutting parts off. That, combined with the already weak light being too far away is adding to the slower growth.

It's growing normally, just a little more slowly.

Add better lighting for better results.

Most LED recommendations say about 35-50 watts of light per sqft.

135 watts / 50 watts/sqft = 2.7 sqft of light coverage or 135 / 35 watts/sqft = 3.8 sqft of coverage.

Your current light is good for about 2.7 to 3.8 square feet of grow space. So basically it's not enough light for even a 2x2 tent. I'd recommend a better light if possible if you want to yield anything decent.

Thanks I appreciate the information I shall definitely try to get them something much stronger.

If you want a plant to continue growing vertical and bush out, try super cropping the main stem near the top. Or Lst and grow the main sideways.

When you top, vertical growth of the main trunk stops and the side branches start growing. Your plant looks like it was starving for light. Give it some time with the new light and see what happens. Maybe look into buying a LUX meter, you should be shooting for about 30,000 lux. Or try a LUX app on your phone but they are much less reliable.
