Fan Leaves are Bananas! Normal??

I am not one to freak out over my plants. It is called "weed" for a reason.

Third grow...learned a lot from the 1st two. 1st one with a 400w MH/HPS system. I am about to enter into week 5 of flowering and am starting to get quite a bit of yellow fan leaves. I mean yellow like a banana!

My P.H. is good and my nutes have been in check. Soil grow. Is this normal, no worries? Most of the plant looks good and the buds look good enough to lick.

Like I say, "Growing Bud is like Masturbating....there is a general idea...but everyone does it different."

Running about 6.4 right now. It was a little higher during Veg, but I have gotten it under control.

It really is only 3-4 leaves on each plant.

Just worried...cuz I can see the finish line. Don't want to trip up like a marathon runner 50 yards from the finish line.

They need more nitrogen.

Happens in every flowering room I ever ran across..... There just has to be a common link to these problems.....

If I just started adding some Veg Nutes (Fox Farm Grow Big) this week. How long will it take before I see if that extra N will take effect?

Should I really care as long as the bud sites are looking healthy? What are these big fan leaves doing that are lower on the stalk?

Just from reading, what I understand is that it's normal for the lower fan leaves to turn yellow and die during the flowering stage, and not to worry about them. let them die, and fall off or pull them off once they're completely yellow. it's because they are not getting enough light. So technically, you could put another light on the lower branches, but at the same time, if you don't, the energy from those leaves is going to put toward the production of the actually buds.

again, not from experience--I haven't gotten a plant into flowering yet. Anyway, hope it helps a little at least!

It is called trans-location, and it is completely normal for certain strains to do that. Week 5 of flowering is when the plant goes through one of its biggest metabolic changes, where it officially stops using energy to do anything but produce seeds, and resin to protect them. It is the same that happens with young clones, you can take a run of 40 clones, and a lot of the time watch as over time one fan leaf from each plant will turn yellow as the plant cannibalizes it for its nutrients. By the end of flowering it is common for a lot of the fan leaves to be yellowed.

I use Fox farm products as well. If you follow the schedule (which I do because of such great results) in week 7 and 8 you are suppose to add nitrogen (grow big) as they have not had much nitrogen for the previous 2 weeks and then stop the big grow for the last four weeks. I also use the supplements (open sesame, beastie bloom and cha ching) which really adds to bud development as well as very hearty Kolas. My strain also has a tendency to have the fan leaves turn yellow close to harvest and I don't know quite why but the final product is killer (I don't know if it is strain related though).
