i was just wondering what the effect was if i trimmed most of the fan leaves off. My plants is very bushy and some buds are having a hard time getting light. So i trimmed most of the fan leaves off and i was just wondering if that will boost my buds, or do the opposite

NOOOOOOOO!!!! YOU DON'T EVER WANT TO TRIM OFF THE FAN LEAVES. SO YOU CUT OF SOME LEAVES HUH? HOW MANY? THE REASON TO NOT CUT OFF YOUR FAN LEAVES IS FOR THE PLANT TO BE ABLE TO PRODUCE ENERGY FOR BUD PRODUCTION. WITHOUT AS MANY LEAVES YOUR PLANT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE ENOUGH ENERGY TO PRODUCE NICE BUDS. YOUR GROWTH WILL SLOW A BIT BUT HOPEFULLY YOU DON'T LOSE TOO MUCH OFF THAT PLANT.:weed: NASTYRUDEDOGG IS HERE TO HELP.

my friend saw my plant and said to get rid of the big leaves cause they were blocking off the light to the buds. I have to agree with him though as it was more of a bush than a tree. Hopefully my plant will be forgiving

well like others have said on here before if the plant didnt need the fan leaves it would not grow them. and buy cutting them u are pretty much takeing its food source away

i wish my cam was working, id take a pic. I only took off the big leaves on the stem. The small leaves around the buds i left there, well basically anything with trichs i left on. i was hoping to boost the growth of the buds cause they're kinda small compared to the others on here. Guess i fucked up. oh well chalk it up as experience
anyone know a way to boost bud growth. I'm in the 6th week of flowering and they seem pretty damn small. Ive been using miracle growth 15-30-15 for the past 6 weeks i worked my way up to the recomended dosage over the first 3 weeks, and now for the past 3 weeks ive been nuting every other day. They havent seem to have been growing over the past 2 weeks

The leaves catch the light to make food for the buds to grow. Cutting off the leaves just stunts the bud growth.

Never take leaves off unless over 50% of the leaf is dead and even then if I can tear the dead parts off and leave the live parts I do.

If the plant bends dont pull it off. My pitbull's tail has broken limbs off my Ganj I simply take fishing line and some crystals, mend it, and tie it. they will survive in bad conditions trust me. I have graphed 6 differnt strains for a few peeps and it worked right off a 6" stump and roots LMFAO...read a few post man.

Why do people always insist that the leaves are "covering" the buds. Buds are the "flower" of the marijuana. Flowers do not take in sunlight and turn it into energy, leaves do that.

Think if the leaf as the digestive system and think if the bud as a sexual organ. Dipping your sex organs in food will not feed you and removing your digestive system will not make you grow.

I really wish people would read up on it first before insisting that others remove their leaves.

Ok.. Question.. Who's advice does a guy/girl take here? Some people say snipping leaves is bad and some say go wild (within reason of course). I have an Ed Rosenthal book and in it he says that once flowering you can remove excess leaves and this actually stimulates new growth. But misshestermoffitt i can also see how your theory makes alot of sense..

So is experience then not the best teacher?

I've read a lot of threads where people removed their leaves, then then later they are complaining about their buds not growing at all.

What I do is I look at peoples pictures and then check their technique. The people who's plants look the best to me are the ones that don't remove their leaves. I've noticed a pattern between fully leaved and big fat buds / trimmed off leaves and small airy buds.

I Just like to encourage people to read up on the subject and stop taking the advice of "friends" that don't even grow.
