Fans and carbon filters

I just bought a small inline fan, 6" with ducting rated at 260m3/HR

I then bought a carbon filter rated at 650m3/HR.

Did I f*#k up? Are these items compatible at all?

I may be wrong here, Because im also pretty new setting up carbon filters and im actually doing mine right now, but from what ive read and learned so far you should be okay. As long as theyre both 6 inches you can connect them with a hose clamp or with flexiduct and tape. It should still pull the air even though you aren't maxing capacity you might just have to let it run longer to scrub the air because the fan is less powerful. Also if you google carbon filter setup it should pop up a 2 minute video on youtube about how to set up someones kit you can buy but it gives a good visual on how to set one up even if you dont buy their kit.
Hope this helps - DD

As long as the Filter is rated for MORE airflow than the fan puts out, you're fine.
You definitely do not want it the other way around.

I just thought as the flow rate was much higher for the filter that would be stress onto the low flow rate of the fan

Sorry havent been on in a bit. But to answer you, As long as the fan isnt higher than the filter youre fine. My fan is 745 cfm. My filter is 750 cfm. If it were vise versa the filter would hold the fan back from pushing the last 5 cfm and the fan would most likely short out or burn up because its trying to over work for that 750 even though the filter isnt letting it. Take breathing air for instance. You only breathe so much. And that doesnt hurt you even though there is so much on earth. Now only breathe through a coffee stirrer for a day. Hope this helps bud. -D
