Farmer's market may have troubles...

Its an old thread but I searched it to post this:
Jackson Farmer's market may have trouble because IT SUCKS! I went, I saw, I sampled, I talked top people and I swear to you I gave it my best to try and be down with it but 70 dollars later (disclaimer: I went sunday-some say this matters so I will go a saturday still but obviously biased) I got a whopping 2 eighths and a sample of "hash". I'll post some pics; it's sad. the space queen will get you up decent but it's got lots of lil yellow flaky leaves in it, the buds weret buds so much as collections of crust with sticks on them and this hash.....is not. plain and simple it's not hash. I can see chunks of green and it won't even stick to itself so you tell me what it is later when I post pics. my guess is someon scraped their bong but I don't know how they made it unsticky.This "mango" I got won't get you up in any quantity and won't stay lit. oh plus the taste isn't there at all. any taste. any smell, nothing. Best part; the lady behind the counter said "it really does taste like a mango!" it really tasted like hay. I try really hard not to bash anyone or anything that is on this side of the issue with me but holy hell-what a disservice. maybe shut the doors sunday if it really makes that big a difference. even the clone guy....fresh cut stix in root pellets-NOT A CLONE. seed dude, not cheap no selection and they were all F TGA cuz everyone else does them. I'm thinking there is a reason for that fellers and give the people what they want. I'm done-just finished a morning doob of the mango and when nothing happened I was inspired to write this. MAN I thought legality would stop the old story of being burned by a dealer but that' scenario is alive and well at the market on pearl st

Belle was very disappointed with the selection and lack of vendors. The meds she got are decent, but she expected more the a few vendors.
A market with only a few vendors, and some unhappy customers. Sounds like a huge opportunity Cory.

She got some Ak, JTR, and Afghan. I am happy with the meds she did get. The market needs 20 more good growers though, no doubt.

bad pics I know but you can get the point I think. Glad; I thought the same thing but then got the rules sheet and the rundown. I've been going over my expenses and my credits and donations and man I'm not doing well at 180 and 200 an oz. After the 75 for the table and the 20% off the top for the collective or whoever gets it I won't make more unless I become the guy everyone loves to stone on here; the evil "proviteer". to make 200, I got to charge about 250-300 there and sell/transfer 3-4 oz at that feel;s like an awful price. I got a real problem here, I think I do well as a grower and I know my quality is higher then what I saw there but I can't charge that much. even to "skivy stoners", I'd feel like a dick. but if I'm to get these meds I grow to anyone and help out the community its going to take more work, not less. I figured that last month I made about $1.50/hour for labor and covered my costs. that's not getting my pee pee hard, its got me scanning the paper for a second job! Anyone got a way to make 250/oz and not feel like a turdhole? thought maybe the market was the spot but after the fees and 20% I can't sell at my price anyore (not that THAT price is working either!) IMA have to get over it I guess and be "that guy" and just be the hardass that asks for 300/oz. Hope my friends are real and they don't jump ship on me even though I suspect they're getting a deal at 250 and 300. I shouldn't be in the service industry, I have trouble demanding money for something I believe people need. I got the same prob in my personal training business. man what a rant! I need some real working pot!!!! hury up harvest, hury up.

If your game for a trip an hour north check out the G3C in Flint. The clubhouse is nice and getting nicer. Many of us here are members whom frequent and vend there regardless of distance.

I don't know Joe. I dont really want to speak on him. I can speak on what I've seen and what I have touched and tasted only and it wasn't really good. Any try is a good one I guess but I can see why the place gets trashed on the internet. I'm going to hijack this whole thread now and ask this: Is there anyone who is making a living at this who gets their hands in the dirt and produces? I know the Joe Cains make money and the 4 employees they talk about there at the market and the disp places make money for some people but is there anyone doing well at the bottom? I'm at the bottom and since crossing to legal and trying to up-size into a part-time job type income thing I'm not doing well. I have pretty detailed costs and invoice data for myself. I'm a harsh critic of myself and I am ever imporving and always learning therefore never calling myself a master or anything other then a student trying to improve. I have myself and 3 others-I operate as if I only have 3 including myself though for safety sake.

I'll get by with it and I only buy when I have over sold/donated my own stuff. so damn discouraging knowing I'm burning stuff that's of lesser quality and more cost then my patients but that's who I am and I got to live with it or change I guess.

I wouldn't give Jackson Farmers Market a fucking nickel. I sure as hell wouldn't take my meds there so I could give Joe Cain a cut. FUCK THAT.

Shit don't last long around here @ $250, why feel guilty over that when people have no problem going to a dispensary and shelling out almost double?

We need more markets, without Joe Cain sticking his grubby little fingers in the pot. There shouldn't be a person making money off a farmers market. Get a group of caregivers, plan ahead, reserve a location, split the cost with each caregiver attending. Fuck paying table fees and a cut... FUCK THAT!!!! Fuck Joe Cain right in his fat fraud ass. 20% off the top, seemed like a pretty non-farmer's market kind of rule but what do I know. shit I only got nuts enough to "know" a few guys online and even less than that in person. I'm in no position (just yet) to put anyone out of business but I'm feeling better about moving my price up after hearing all this stuff. I am an idiot who has to learn for himself though and I prob will go back to the market to test things out. I won't feel so bad upping my charges to people I don't know. if it goes as well as I'd imagine it might be the boost in confidence I need to branch out even further and go that route with my own collective. So many years of being so secretive; I bet I was talking to other growers a bunch of times in the early years and never knew it. woulda coulda shoulda. put up or shut up, right? 10-13-12 is the big harvest; labs on them and overage testing is the plan.

I would love to talk more about this. I hear Joe Cain is crook and hear bad shit. What is the solution. We ARE opening a dispensary or market. Possibly several.
20% off top isn't crazy in the least. Dispensary by me buys at 250, sells at 450. Guess what. I can beat that. roflmao. I give free oz a month. My meds are $250. If I have others meds, they are $300. Patients are happy. Dispensaries are not.
When you say dispensary, there is so much to it. I can buy a building for $30k. That's one thing. Can a business owner with $150k building charge the same? Joe can be as big a fuckhead as everyone says. If he charges $40 a table, that isn't shit!! If he charges 20%, I learned in business class, get better meds and charge 15%. I get so confused talking about this shit online. So many decisions are based on basic business principles. So much common sense. It is fucking impossible to set a base price for meds when 90% of the enitre state cannot even define top-shelf. We don't exactly all have the same 12 pack of pepsi cans. Does anyone on this site think meds in Birmingham run for same price as Saginaw? The variables are absolutely unending.

I am gonna run to dispensary and pick this conversation up later. lol.

When I get my card I plan on renting a table out ...I don't know what you guys are doing wrong...225 a zip comes out to 36 an elbow..fair imo....I ran out of meds last month..had to grab some in Chicago to get me by...and smoked the last a few days ago....so I had to go to a local dive bar...strike up a convo with a guy...gave him 20 to grab me a gram...fucking horrible..smoked a joint with dude and told him to keep it...looked and smoked like something I grew when i was 20 years old and did not know shit...I am really surprised how shitty the product is around here and the prices are high!...I will go into that market and undercut everyone and give them better quality..win/win...I don't know this guy Cain but I am sure I can work something out with him an it will not be 20%.

I tried real hard to get him some RSO, I had heard the cannabis cancer project donated to cancer patients but when I asked about it on the MMMA forums I was banned by Mr Joe Cain himself and publicly humiliated on his forums being accused of trying to con everyone out of RSO. Funny I was sitting on a elbow of A+ and was willing to trade.

So yeah, have fun listening to Joe talk about how important the patients are to him. I'd rather shove red hot nails in my eardrums. Truth.

And as far as that goes, that was just the tip of the iceberg.

Fuck that man, you can do better locally... We really need to set up a SW MI farmers market and it will be in the works soon.

Set it up..I will rent a table from you... I plan on giving away free medibles as well to attract a crowd...I am not greedy and am easy to work with.

If you ever find yourself in that situation again get ahold of me... I can give you guidance on how to turn your bud into oil. Done it many times, and somehow gotten away with it so far in an apartment... so I guess I know what I'm doing... lol.

Thanks Purk.. I hope to never see another friend go through pancreatic cancer, or anyone else for that matter. It's crazy seeing a 200lb guy you know turn into 80lbs of skin and bones to say the least.

I did manage to get him some oil, but it wasn't very potent. It came in a nice labelled jar, can't remember who made it. It was more for nausea I think. I really wanted to get him the real deal cancer cure shit.

You're nuts making that in an apt man lol.. That's an outdoors kind of job dude lol.
