During a video conference the CEO of CNN said this to staff and journalists who work for him:
Covering Trump is "tricky and messy," Licht says, and it will "continue to be messy and tricky, but it's our job." He confidently says "America was served very well by what we did last night." Many CNN employees strongly disagree.
When the CEO of a company tells the people who work for him what their job is, that pretty much means they are free to leave if they don't want to do what he says.
The town hall drew 3 million viewers, the largest audience in years. To Licht, this was a success. Clearly he doesn't care what Trump said. All he heard was money talking. He's competing with Fox for their viewers. Licht takes direction from the Board of Directors and he's telling CNN employees what is expected of them. It is a one-way conversation.
That's corporate culture for you. They have no soul.
