fast and vast outdoor help

Hello riu! Newbie grower here, first auto plant:

strain: heavyweight fast and vast
age: week 9 from sprout
soil: organic, 50% worm castings, 50% local potting soil + perlite and vermiculite.
outdoor, 12/12 since seed (i live in the tropics where we only have 2 seasons and its usually 12/12 outside)
temps: 32-38 celcius when there's sun. around 20-24 at night.
nutrients: local hydro nutes (2-part), molasses, and koolbloom

breeder's time frame says 8 weeks but it obviously isn't. I'm having a hard time estimating harvest for this plant. seems like a long way to go but some buds are looking ripe and it doesn't look like its getting fat :( maybe cause of the high temps. also, based on the pictures that buds aren't maturing equally so i guess i might harvest half at a time.

I was wondering what are your thoughts of this plant? if they're still gonna get fat and all. I have a loupe but i'd rather gauge on bud maturity and size so that i can get as much weight rather than harvesting too early when i saw amber (which i did on my previous plant)

I dunno man. Not looking so fast and vast to tell the truth. Looks kind of small for 9 weeks. Sounds like you are giving it what it needs and it looks healthy enough. Sounds like the genes. Good luck.

I swear fast and vast just doesn't do well outdoors. Every journal I see with them outside they're small and don't look like they will yield that much. Then when you look at the indoor grows they do awsome.

I think the issues you're seeing are because it's an Auto under 12/12. They do much better under longer light periods, either indoors or outdoors where and when there are very few dark hours (Which is what the light is like where autos come from) so you may not see it really bulk up.

hmmm. thanks for the input though.

these are under full sun. part of me is thinking that its with the genes. the seeds are from a hermed plant previously so maybe that's why they're so tiny and not fat.

and other part of me thinks it has to do with the genes, indicas just seem to do so poorly under high temps but this shows no signs of heat stress. but there's a first time for everything.

i'll probably inspect root structure when i harvest and check if i need for air in the soil.

indoors are also a big problem because of the high ambient temps here, if they're in a tent with led light, it's like my plants are in an oven even with a strong exhaust. +outdoors are more budget friendly.

I totally understand, I would just suggest in future, if you have the choice, to go with a photo-period rather than an auto. With a photo you may lose out on a little bit of veg if the sun is always 12/12, but it will make up for it during flower, whereas an auto under 12/12 will be stunted no matter how intense the sun is, because they are bred for climates where they get 18-24 hours of sunlight per day. Personally I would go with a relatively pure sativa, since they are bred for the tropics where it is always 12/12, and the extra time in flower will help it make up for the shorter veg period.

What's the trichs look like ?
no idea yet. trying to learn how to gauge visually on bud maturity, pistils, etc. cause i made mistakes on harvesting on how the trichs look before.

im thinking of harvesting very soon since 11 weeks is too long for an auto.

It looks ready to me from what I can tell on my phone...has the pistils receded into the calyxes ?
yeah, some but not all. i was still hoping she'd sort of get a bit fatter.

i was also waiting for the leaves to yellow but thats not happening anytime soon. lol

I have grown this before inside , something is very wrong with this plant. Cut it down and start over. Should be over 3 or 4 feet tall and very bushy loaded with huge buds

I have grown these too and there is a short phenotype of FnV.

I would say if you dont need the smoke and it aint taking up any room you can let it fatten up if you want.

Usually the fan leaves yellowing is the best indicator of when they are done, the trich's don't always amber up on autos'

Your going to like the smoke.

oh ok, thanks,

but i was wondering if even if i was feeding her, would the fan leaves still yellow nonetheless?

the prime harvest window is not anywhere near the actual time the plant will terminate growth ......... if it still has plenty of nutrients in the correct amounts the plant will stay green through flower / prime harvest time ...... and take on a more stretched hemp like growth ......... personally i go by the hairs .... when 70% or so are red i'll chop it .... the hairs come out white get old then a new set will push out a few weeks later usually about the third time this happens they will all start dying out ...... I also go by time most auto's take 10 weeks indoors atleast so its very possible that that one could use a little longer outdoors on 12/12

hey mate...what type if yield did get from the stain ?
It was my first auto grow so messed it up and went into lock out from Miracle grow soil but I still managed to get a OZ or better from each plant , It would of been a lot more under better growing conditions, but its very fruity good tasting potent smoke, at the time I was happy enough with the harvest of three of them.
