Money is not just paper. It dictates everything about your life. Where you'll live. What you'll eat. What schools you go to. What business connections you'll have. It has everything to do with your life.

No society has trained women to get what they want by using their looks and body, then calling the men assholes if they tell them the truth, stupid girls. Girls should be told their capable, smart, can achieve anything, ur making it important to focus on looks, if u wanna help urca and kuroi let them know they need to love their body before anyone else will. Both need proper guidance not someone reassuring them they are pretty, I could have used my looks and body to get by on life but i prefer to use the sexiest part of me, my brain :) The reason men think im sexy is because i have confidence, and a smokin ass.....

The best thing you can do, RB (and I wager you did this) is teach your daughters that this sort of lookism is deeply ingrained in our culture - to recognize it as it happens - and to know deep inside themselves that it is unfair. If they take that truly to heart, they'll be independent of that pressure. I have a 14-year-old female relative who is agonizing over her looks (she doesn't believe she is pretty, and by Gum she is) and I believe one of the best things i can do as a male role model is to teach her just that, and that self-confidence comes from inside. Of course, with a teenaged girl, one application is insufficient for complete coverage. ~grin~ cn

Aw. I bet you're a great male role model Canna. I do teach my girls that. And they have a good daddy that teaches them the same. I have been successful in life as far my count goes. I have 2 sons, 2 daughters, a wonderful husband, two ugly dogs lol, a great job, a good education that's still continuing, and I didn't use my body to get there. I don't want my daughters to ever feel like they have to either.

Well this can be strange, my mother always said things like " ur so pretty u just need some makeup" or why don't u wear more dresses" these words made me think i needed to look a certain way for boys to like me, so i did the opposite and behold, im even hotter rflmao, seriously it depends on ur daughter and her morals, i thank baby jesus i was a teen b4 the FB and such, but again i thought cheerleaders and bar whores were just the scum of the earth, i dislike fake women and attention seeking sluts. Why can't all girls be sweet but ruff and tumble tom boys, life would just be much easier. Im a real women, i enjoy baking, sewing, quilting. I can fluff my hair, paint my toes and look better than any porn star, why because i luv myself and NOT ONE PERSON can make me feel ugly, or fat unless i allow their words to change how i feel about myself, im not that weak nor should ANY women ever be, ugly women are only that way because they don't wanna feel pretty. I make myself feel pretty by pampering and taking care of myself, not waiting for people i will never know to tell me i am, how does that even work???

I think some of us are just born with tougher skin than others. The only person who can ever make me feel anything is my mother lol. She could make me feel guilty for damage to a plane in World War Two if she wanted to. But anyone else could call me fat all day and it wouldn't change my opinion about myself one bit. Other people need a lot more guidance and reassurance and it's these girls that get taken advantage of.
 
For the record, I would never tell my daughters they needed make up and i'd bitch slap anyone who did tell them that. I do let my daughters play with Barbies as long as they are Barbies with ambition, as I call them. They can have veterinarian barbie, doctor barbie, they can even have babysitter barbie. But no beach party barbies or hawaiian luau barbies or anything like that. And thank goodness they haven't even taken much of an interest in Barbie anyway. I try not to control what they take an interest in as long as it's not unhealthy. My younger son loved Dora and the Teletubbies when he was little. He even had a pink glittery rolling backpack with the teletubbies on it that he took with him all the time. Parents made so many comments to me about it, how I could possibly be OK with him having that...like pink was toxic to the growth of boys or something. Now he's the most rough and tumble little shit you'd ever see. I had to go into a school meeting when he was in Kindergarten because he had so many girls he was "play marrying" that they were all fighting with eachother and disrupting the class. And he always takes time to play house with his siblings, where he somehow ends up babysitting all the dolls lol. I think gender steroetypes like make up on girls and no dolls for boys are shitty things to push on kids.
