I know this is an old thread, but came across this while searching for another post. Though, knowing it's the time of year that FedEx starts hiring dozens of temps for the holiday season, I figured I would share some info for any of the homies interested in getting a part-time job for some extra loot. Pay starts at like $11/hr and the benefits are incredible for a p/t, if you hang around.
Anyways, I'm a FedEx package handler, have been for awhile - there are two branches of FedEx - home delivery and ground. They don't drug test - not pre-hire, not random, never, though I cannot speak definitively for the other branch (ground), which I have no material knowledge of, I hear things are the same. They do put on all the employee information that they do indeed test, but this is just because it's generalized info they give to drivers, etc. and has nothing to do with this job. Unless you get hurt of course, then depending on the degree of injury, said person may or may not be tested. Obviously jamming a finger/toe or minor cut wouldn't warrant a trip to the doctor - stitches, killing someone, breaking bones, will obviously result in you going and getting a test. Best advice, don't come high - I smoke as much as the next guy, but this is pretty obvious - heavy machinery, belts, pullies, and a high proportion of morons surrounding you is a formula for disaster if stoned.
Management doesn't have the resources or desire to control what employees outside of work as long as they come in sober and pull their own weight - and it is a lot of weight, I don't recommend it for anyone who doesn't want to sweat. Sure, if it's a petite female they won't expect her to unload +1k boxes/hr off the trucks, but they will expect them to load/organize/lift +50lb boxes. A shit load of people quit in the first could of weeks, it's hilarious.
Anyways, I would say fellow smokers feel safe in pursuing this job without fear of getting drug tested, barring any injury or appearing high at work. Peace.
