FedEx signature??

I just wanna say that usually I get all of my packages from Amazon delivered via UPS.

Well, last week I had ordered two air cooled hoods that was purchased through a third party seller on Amazon. FedEx attempted to deliver today while I was at work. On the door tag they left, it is required a signature from an adult (21 years or older with government issued ID required). I reside in Kentucky so of course this kinda makes me feel uncomfortable since our state is so hard on growing. And I hope to hell the packages were shipped to me discreetly.

I have read elsewhere onna few Google searches that there is basically an indirect signature, then an 18 or older signature, then finally a 21 years or older signature which is usually required signature when purchasing alcohol or firearms... Wtf? It is 2 air cooled hoods, not 80 lbs worth of ammo, guns or alcohol??

Could someone please address me on this? I am well over 21 but I just don't understand why the signature with ID is being requested?

If I could just find more information on why the 21 years or older signature is required, I would be just a hair more comfortable with the situation. Even though I have had grow equipment, seeds, soil, hoods, lights, nutes delivered before I have never once been required this kind of signature. However it is usully UPS doing those deliveries.

I do have cameras around my property and I am going to check them shortly and possibly might have caught the box on camera if he had it out before he attempted delivery to see if it was shipped in a discreet package.

Third party seller must have sent it with that requirement.

  • Deliver without Signature— This signature type is the default for FedEx residential deliveries and authorizes FedEx to leave your shipment in the event the recipient is not available to sign for it. When you select this option, you waive your right to hold FedEx responsible for any resulting claims. (Not available for FedEx Express Freight.)

  • Indirect Signature Required—FedEx obtains a signature from any person at the delivery address or from any person at a neighboring address. The recipient can also leave a signed FedEx door tag authorizing release of the package without anyone present. This option is available to residential addresses only. To access this Signature option, you must check This is a residential address on the main Ship screen. (U.S. and Canada Only)

  • Direct Signature Required—FedEx obtains a signature from someone at the delivery address and reattempts delivery if no one is available to sign for the package.

  • Adult Signature Required—FedEx obtains a signature from someone at the delivery address who is at least 21 years old and who has government-issued photo identification as proof of age. FedEx reattempts delivery if no one is available to sign for the package.

Just sign it. It's nothing nefarious. Some companies require signatures. My HLG lights all required signatures... As do guaranteed orders from The Attitude Seed Bank. Nothing to worry about, especially for the lights. There is nothing illegal in buying lights.

Yeah after thinking more into it I'm not even worried about it now. I am going to sign it.

But on the other hand, I am awaiting an attitude order now and last time I ordered a couple years ago I never had to sign a thing with them. So this is something new??

Nothing new that I know of. I've always had to sign for them. Might have something to do with the guaranteed stealth shipping? Maybe if you don't go that route you don't have to sign?

I have always done stealth shipping if that is where you add the option of shipping in a t-shirt or gift and never had to sign anything.

your fine! I worked for a major delivery co. for over 30 years. some shippers require it, especially in "shady" zip code neighborhoods.
