I hadn't really considered that, the "spot light effect" is what i'm referring to. so if you have shaded bud site in your undergrowth, take a cfl and.. you get the idea?

hahah!!!! they are beasts. I will most likely try to mount them more sideways once the plants get taller. This is just to help the plants stretch as they are very short/bushy right now!!!!!! I'll see how it goes along the way and then get more suggestions too. Thanks ALL!!

Thats so funny blue........I just purchased more HomeDepot cfl's and Y splitters for side lighting in my Flower room. Installed this morning....i just used halogen work ligh sockets with 15' foot cords, with Y splitters , and ran 6 26W's basically. Then i just ran them towards shaded area's. Still need another HID...anyways can u snap a pic of this lowes 300wcfl.....how u like it? How Much $$.. I think i spent bout $30 but am only getting bout 130W cfl sidelighting.

CFLS look good blue should increase your resin production. I have noticed that cfls might not produce the weight of an HID but CFLS beat out HID on resin production. My ak47xlowryders under my cfls put on sooooo much more resin than my HID run with the same strain. I know your not using them as your main light source but sticking with smaller wattage lights in the best way to go with CFLS you might have to use more but you end up getting a much better spread of light this way. Everything looks good can't wait till you switch out the MH bulb for the HPS. They should kick into high gear once that HPS is in and lights on 12/12.

oh HID growers will go on and on all day about how AWESOME their lights are, and how badly CFL sucks...
but have those HID growers every flipped on a CFL and left it for the duration of a grow and bloom, with none of their precious HPS or MH?
answer.. probably not.
not being a hater, just being an ass again, i'm sure those steroid induced lumens from HID beats the hell out of anything else...

thats a pretty defensive response,
read my post and tell me where exactly i said how awesome hid is, tell me where exactly i said cfl sucks, you already said yourself that it will never produce the same amount of bud, which is pretty well established, i can't argue with you there, but there is nothing within a cfl light over a hid lamp that would increase resin production,
its a pretty hard job to compare this grow and one from memory that happened at least 8 weeks ago, and then you got to take into account growing skill, and improvement of such, then you also have to take into account that under a different light it may well appear different, if i run a hps and then suddenly change it for a mh, it will appear as though there is much more resin production, but nothing changed since i changed the bulbs out, exactly the same plant with exactly the same resin, its just light reflection that makes a difference,
then you can also take into account you taking information from the wrong people and thinking you should have a light much closer than it should be which will degrade thc, theres so many factors that can make a difference that i don't see how you would be able to tell for sure,
i'm not hating on your lights, thats not who i am, theres tons of ways of growing weed, how you do it is up to you.
btw i have a 250w cfl and a 110w t5 fixture, so i have experience with cfl's too

ya back to her grow in a minute...... So your telling me what I saw in two seperate grows with the same strain was wrong? Both were grown the same way and the cfl buds had WAY more resin than my HID buds. I'll retract the statement how bout certain strains. I can say also that I've seen LED grows with more resin than HID grows side by side. Not getting hostile or anything but I've seen live proof with my own eyes.

and in any case resin production can only be increased with Blues decision to add CFL's, period. Existing HID with existing floro's , and now adding CFL's, well give more ++resin. Good work on adding light blue...you should post pics of the new lights, and $cost.

The CFLs are about $18 each...you prob don't need the hoods. I can get a pic soon if you want.
The pic #12 on the first post of this thread is the Mystery Big Bud..the seeds were like 3 years old, and I got them online from Amsterdam. We'll see how they do but so far they are the biggest plants I have..the ones creeping through the screen on my most recent.
