yea, the last line is the key ;)

some garden string is a nice thing if the steams cant hold the weight/buds near the end, well any string, Im sure you got some old wire`s or sumthing, anything that don't cut in to the steam

and don't worry, they will finish, question is how well, I would for sure have a read about the H2O2 (brintoverilte 3%) now that you don't have any drain hole`s it will help bring fresh oxygen to your root`s and help removing any root rot/pythium

Seems like there's no way around it.. gotta drill some holes. The stems are only about 7mm thick, so I gotta be really careful.
Was hoping to avoid it, but.. gotta go what needs to be done :)
