FFOF Vs Roots Organic Soil~Pictures=Proof

I didn't read to the end of the thread (sorry)... but I also live near RO and have used their soil for some time now (with a little work). The way I test soil PH is by running water through it (test PH of water before) and then sample the PH of the runoff. When doing this with fresh RO soil the start PH will be around 6.8 and after it has run through the soil it has been down to 5.5ish.... WAY To low to grow.

I think RO is filled with lots of micronutrients but not a lot of Nitrogen. I use natures nectar organic nitrogen to supplement my regular feeding schedule with a bit extra nitrogen. But be carefull as natures nectar nitrogen has a very low PH and can drag my feeding solution down to around 5.5ish.... remember PH up generally has some calcium in it too...

If using roots, my recomendation is to get a PH meter, and make sure what you are feeding is in a good range. I also think RootsOrganics is too strong for young plants, I use FF light warrior for fresh clones or seedlings, then transplant em into the RO to bloom out.

I Agree, RO is low in N that is also why they came out with 707. It is high in N. But Regular RO is high in P, good for starting the 12/12. But I prefer FFOF 100%. Never had an issue

ataxia still a novice grower here .. but i've been using Roots since the beginning and loved the results. I've had this discussion with Golden and he's hellbent on OF. Which is cool. after vegging my plants in RO it came time to buy another bag of soil. I got OF ..... so in my tent i had same strain with three different soils in three different pots. MG Organic, Roots, and OF.
my results.
MG gave me dwarfs practically ... The roots performed as expected. and the OF ....while i love roots and will continue to use it in veg. I think i'll switch to OF when transplanting before flower. Kept my leaves healthy and green..... OF has alot more N in the mix than Roots.... No? seemed that way to me.
and as much as i hate to admit it. for whatever reason .. the pots with the OF gave me a little more bud. Almost like the experience that GG had with his side by side.

Is it possible that Roots Organic soil has undergone changes since any of these comparisons were performed?

My plants have been growing in Ocean Forest with added coco coir, but I am in the process of transplanting into 5-gallons for the remainder of flowering at this very moment (half are already done). I've transplanted them into Roots Organic with additional guano, lime, a little Bio-tone and white rice. I don't care if it has less nitrogen, in fact I would prefer that it did considering the stage of growth they are in (I would just add work castings otherwise) with slightly over a month to go.
I got the Roots to save some cash, and because it already has the coir which I would otherwise have had to spend more money on as well as more time mixing it. When I opened the bag to give the soil a look, it seemed like there was a hell of a lot more perlite in it than would have been in FFOF- definitely doesn't seem like I would have to add any. I also only really noticed a couple of 'sticks' in the mix, while the rest of it was quite consistent. From the looks of it, the only thing that kind of disappointed me was that there wasn't any 'chunkier' coir pieces although you can tell that there are is coir and fibers present.
I would say I am using roughly two gallons of the Roots Organic per 5-gallon container.

Whoa! I do not know how that could be called for! GG and TLD are talented growers and both deserve...well humans deserve better than that...I am by no way PC...but that was fucking offensive!

nope, not blind, just open to the idea that there are so many variables that I would need to be aware of in the outcome of the use of a product and its different uses before I judge it, especially when you are gauging the reactions of living organisms.

my plants are almost 20 feet tall, Super stinky and Dank, Comando..... Im very content with my soil mixtures, and how I have used them (for the most part, there is always room for improvement and doing it better).

It sounds as though the results of his experiment is merely just endorsing a product that he hasn't tested using the scientific method, and people (you more specifically) buying it just on that alone, when in all actuality, different applications and processes could have very well made all of the differences. But who knows..... :)

Hmmm.....that seems to be a variable that you overlooked...seeing as this is a soil comparison.

Roots Organic has change over the last two years. It now has less sticks and more perlite, also it stinks ( smells ) way more.

Being Roots Organic has more P and very little N did a few plants (non scientific study, lol) in RO just as I went 12/12. I had them in 3 gallons FFOF and then re potted into 5 gal with RO. SO far I have seen little stretch (2 weeks in) compared to the stretched I normally get when I re pot from 3-5 gal and using FFOF.

Yeah FFOF really keeps them green. But I am always one to EXPERIMENT and see how things work in a NON SCIENTIFIC manner ( just keeping it real ). So as I have mentioned above I have a few transplanted 3 into 5 gal using RO . Like 2-3 weeks in and the leafs are green, but not deep green like yours. The buds are everywhere so I am not sure how I feel about using it yet. It did keep the stretch down so thats a plus. bongsmilie

....nice! I've been contemplating the use of roots organic...seen Subcool using it and wanted to give it a shot...I'm ahhhhhhh just stick with what I know, FFOF....thankx!:joint:
