Is watering my plant filtered water ok? I feel like it needs all those minerals That are being filtered out

You are correct, the worst is RO water that strips all the goodies out
filtered water still has some goods and bugs in it, but if in doubt(summertime)
add 20% normal unfiltered water to your clean stuff
Use your cheapo TDM meter to test every month
so to spy on your water companies policy? ..lol

all this really means is you will be adding Epsom Salts or CalMag earlier than you normally would

If you're growing in soil/soilless, you'll probably need to add a cal/mag supplement.

I grow in soil, and have great quality tap water. So I draw my feed water 24 hours in advance in 5-gal buckets, and let them sit for 24 hours to allow the chlorine to evaporate.

Except no cities use chlorine gas any longer, they use chlormine which does not evaporate, I use charcoal filters to remove it

I checked the level of chloramine in our city water and it is very minimal. It doesn't seem to be hurting my organic grows, as all my organic grows proceed from start to finish with 100% tap water. No added nutes or teas of any kind. And I never adjust ph.

There is a chlorine smell to my tap water that dissipates over a 24-hour period. Any idea what it could be?

^^what a derp comment, RO water is the worst...lol it is the best water to use because it doesn't have extra crap they put in the water at your local water treatment facility such as but not limited to chlorine and chloride and numerious other inorganic substances. Chlorine and chloride both kill bacteria and will wipe out bennies in an organic grow. I use the stealth R.O system for my water filtration it was around 200$ and brings the PPM down to around 2ppm and PH around 6.3-6.5 , if you are having problems with Calcium or magnesium add GH CalMag or any other CalMag nutrient to your water when you water, I use 4ml per watering of Gen Hydro CaliMagic.

Yeah I am currently letting my water sit for 24hrs before I water it. Since I just got a tap filter I was curious if it would filter out tooo much shit. But I guess I just keep letting sit for 24hrs it's seem to be working

Test the amount of dissolved solids in your filtered water with an EC pen (measures electrical conductivity and will tell you the PPM of dissolved solids).

Get this baseline just after installing your new filter, so you can chart the efficiency of the filter over time. As your filtered water PPM approaches the PPM of your tap water, you'll know when to change filters.

Edited to say: Just FYI, PPM stands for "Parts Per Million" of dissolved solids.

Chloramine will not evaporate, thats why it is used instead of chlorine. It would not be a bad idea to find out exactly what is in your water and then treat it accordingly. RO is awesome, like Yodaweed said add ca and mg.
