I did not fim, they are still small i judged.
I read somewhere that topping stresses the plants only for a couple of days. So i will only top before transplant to soil by 1 week. The pots are big and i have to wait for the roots to grow a bit.
A bit worried about transplant if they get bigger as my grow site is about 80 miles aways (120 km), checkpoints on the way as well :(

FIM was from a bad topping FUCK I MISSED that gave 4 shoot instead of 2. When you try to FIM, you don't top so low, you top more into the new growth "Hoping" you get 4 new tops instead of 2. But both are just toping.

I don't know anyone who can FIM and get 4 new shoots every time, its a try and hope it works,, either way 2 or 4 you plant is still topped.

I have three growing rite now an FIM and have 4 shoots on all 3 plants its not that hard

Its awesome that when u do it "wrong" then ur actually doing it better.
I'm also growing 3 plants and its my first grow.I needed to check with the first before topping the others

So, I am glad to see this thread because I wanted to start one about the way I have been cloning. So, I would like to hear any ideas feedback or info you might know about this technique. I grow out my mothers until the shoots have begun to grow the 4th set. I cut it off and wait 3 days. The topping process is beginning on the mother plants and is then cloned. The rooting time is not noticeably different and they are branching out of the gate. They tend to be thicker than other clones and ready for another top as soon as the new branches allow it. I give them strong fluorescent light so they grow fat and not tall. Does anyone else do this?

FIMMING & Topping is almost the same thing, we are still training our plants. So what is the major difference from 1 and the other?

A few reasons Why plant training is advised is to increase yield and the quality of yield. By letting more light through/ So there's better air flow/ controlling the way your plant grows for stealth grower who want their plants short or any other reasons.

Things I have noticed for FIM: you can only do them for the top or very new leaves.

Things I've noticed for Topping: it can be done at almost every stage of the plant. Topping can be use for clones as well.

topping is a method where you take the full top of the plant this will in turn give you two top's

fimming is a method where some of the top is left on it just slows growth down,but the fimmed top will still grow back

I top from clone's right up to week 4/5 veg by this time every single top has been topped a good few times,thats why it is key to have rooted clones at week 3/4 of flowering in a other room.For the reason of the tops will have 2 tops then top the you have 4 by week 4/5 of veg you should have bushes rather than lanky plants.

topping is key to getting large yeilds,don't get me wrong big cola's look good but take into account that once you topped and topped again and again,you will have loads of main tops rather than just the one.

All my topping is done in the veg stage rather than the flowering i don't want to top during flowering it sets you back at least 7/12 days.

It's intimidating the first time you do it, but once you do and see how the plant responds you'll realize it's not a big deal. I personally like LST. I find it way less stressful, and rather then get two tops instead of one, every single branch becomes a top with very little stress to the plant. Just something to think about. I top, fim, supercrop, lst, etc.-I use any training technique I need to fill my canopy, but lately just bending my plants has been filling nicely.

Have you ever crowded out your flowering because you vegged too long? Have you ever harvested the tops and left the bottoms to fill out and mature? I need a strategy

Ime fimming isnt very good for mainlining,as with topping u get two equal shoots,ive found with fimming u get one main shoot and two smaller ones,no biggie i know but when ur mainlining u want ideally for all ur tops to be equal.Just my $0.02

Unless you plan to clone your seedling FIM'ing is impractical.
When it comes to the budding part of things I'm a one root system to one cola kind a guy. Instead of topping I simply put in more freshly rooted clones to get the desired canopy mass. Much quiker and less time consuming.
Gotta say though, those tops can be some real good smoking:)

I top just to control height. Evil neighbors. I topped a second plant a moment ago (feeling confident). The 3rd one is a bit slow and has 2 complete nodes only.

I know its not the topic here but last tine i watered my plants was 2 days ago and now even the surface of the pot is still wet. Can u possibly know any way of making more drainage holes in the pot AFTER my plant has grown it for almost a month in it? I'm worried that constant moisture on the surface will promote mold or root rot i'm really confused
