Fimming/topping gone wrong?

so about a week ago i tried to fimm and top my plant. only to have it fail miserably. the top of my plant still only has 2 branches and the tips of my leaves have yet to grow in.

after i fimmed my plants they grew about 3-4 inches vertically and the plant looks very stretched now.

is this because of the failed fimm?

alright here are the pics.

the first two pictures are the 'stretch' i'm talking about. althought it has opened up a lot of light to the lower branches.

the third and fourth pics are my white berry seedlings. the 4th and 5th pictures is something i'm wondering about. what is it? is it the female preflower?

and the last 2 pics are showing what happened after i fimmed.


i wish i had pics of right after i fimmed but i don't.

and on your FIM, i wouldnt worry about it. your side branches are gonna catch up with the top now... the top is just gonna grow slower

Your plants are doing fine,,, dont try and overthink things,, try to look at lots of other threads and pix,,,, the pix of what you think may be preflowers are not,, but, they are normal and you will see them on all plants,, but that is the area where you will be seeing little white hairs come out if female,, if male you will see pollen sacs,, Im sure you can see lots of examples on this forum,, just keep lookin and you will be able to compare,,, good luck,,, and keep your lights at a good distance to the top of your plants,, it all depends on what kind of lights you have to where they will need to be (height)..... good luck...............

Absolutely beatiful! And it's a girl! I only see a pistil, no nut saks. You went from a plant to a bush. Great job.

I can't remember where I got these from, but credit to whoever it was...

Your pics look like stipules to me, my preflowers showed at 1 month, some don't show till later. You will be able to tell quite easily when they do.

As far as topping/fimming..

Topping basically just removes the top of the plant, forcing the plant to put more growth into the side shoots. The top two side shoots become to two tops of the plant. Whenever you take clones this effect will happen on each branch, essentially "topping" each branch.

Fimming is essentially the same thing except instead of the stem getting chopped, it appears part of the growth node is chopped therefore granting the same effect on 4 nodes instead of two. I could be wrong as I have only topped though.

Pretty much those "extra branches" are really just the next set of alternating branches you would have gotton anyways, just more compact instead of grown out taller. And that stretch you get is just the lower branches trying to reach towards the light since they are given a larger amount of energy to do so. That way the canopy kind of evens out and allows you to have either more buds or more clones in a shorter area.

looks like you just cut a little bit high and miss the second top but doin good id look at the plant in the last pic I swear i see nuts
