Final Flush

For the final flush, do you use just plain water? I'm not into anything fancy right now. Does it need to be pH'ed? I'm thinking, no, because we no longer care about nutrient uptake, right?

Plain water will work. A clearing solution will work better.

i agree personally i would get a clearing solution were talking about the taste of you bud man so much smoother imo. but nice to here your about to harvest what strain and any pics?

Shit, I was trying to keep this simple!
I will dig through the hydrofarm catalog and visit my local shop. Any recommended brand(s)? I'm into cheap right now, while I'm trying to streamline my operation. Once I'm happy, then I'll start investing in real nutrients and chemicals. I'm kinda liking the organic idea, but prefer not to deal with smelly chemicals.

My homemade hydro setup is about to harvest some Attitude Himalayan Gold and Power Skunk (bought a few months ago like everybody else) and some wicked-good-smelling bag-seed plants, which also appear to be fast bloomers. I'll be happy if I get an oz from each plant--they're only like 18 inches tall. I've also got some other (hopefully better) seeds from Attitude, which I'll probably germ in the spring.

I plucked a few Power Skunk buds early (pics posted in Strains forum) and dried them out enough to smoke--tasted a little like fuel, and with some serious creep. I smoked AND vaped, and the combination just kicked my ass.

I have to go move some plants around now, I'll try to remember to take some pics.

Clearax. Its cheap and works great.

i was a firm believer in flushing up until recently. after arguing pro-flushing so long with anti-flushers i decided to give it a try.

i used to flush for 2-3wks and always had great burning and tasting bud. i tried a round with one week flush and noticed no difference except bigger buds. next round i didnt flush at all, just fed light the last week and low and behold i have great tasting and burning herb.

BTW - every time you buy flushing solution the boys in marketing laugh.

Hmmm...maybe it depends on your nutes? Maybe some nutes need more flushing than others?

I always thought foul tasting and poor burning bud was due to excess nutrients in the bud themselves.

So, if you start giving them lighter and lighter nute concentrations towards harvest and allow them to use up their stored nutes, wouldn't that give the same effect as starving the plant for the last 10 days?

I'm now hesitating wether to flush or not. Perhaps I can leave say one specimen of each strain un-flushed and see if the smoke's different?

give it a try...i was hella skeptical, no i was sure flushing was the way to go. some guy argued me to death so i gave it a try(i wanted to tell the fucker i was right!). like i said before it worked for me. it takes a proper cure this way and you definetly dont want to feed aggressivly the last week or two. but it works for me.

I don't flush my hydro... the buds put on a lot of weight (up to 25% of the total weight) in the last 2 weeks..

Why starve the plant when you want it to gain weight... makes no sense to me...

Flushing is very common and necessary in soil.. as the nutrients will build up in the soil and need to be flushed out...

Don't over feed... dry and cure properly and your buds will taste and look great...

But I am a dumbass with oral diarrhea... do not listen to me... do your own test...

and ultimately.. go with what you know...

im sorry i would never nhatsot flush trust me i tried both my first 2 grows no flush i tried t my 3rd grow and like on the 100th or so still flushing i would try florakleen that what i use works greattrust me your buds will taste so much better

did you cure it right?

my unflushed herb is just as good as my flushed herb when its cured properly.
