That study uses sucrose aka sugar to improve mass. What is molasses ? Its a sugar extract. Left over from beats. Sugar and potassium converts into carbs for plants. Dun dun dun!!!

molasses is made from sugar cane
Actually it's made from beets too. Neither cane sugar molasses nor beet sugar molasses is usable in hydroponics as both contain the disaccharide, Sucrose. As someone had mentioned before in this thread, it is not a usable form of carbohydrates. Usable forms include, but are not limited to: Xylose, Lyxose, Ribose, etc.

I have never ever seen any molasses made from sugar cane. Ive used grandmas, Brer rabbit, black strapped, trader joes , generic. All made from beets. lookk up 3lb the history of molasses.

It can be used in hydro if organic and especially if you use great white. The bacteria will feed off the molasses and multiply. I use it in my dwc mom kit. I feed only guano/compost teas.
