Hello all, I am hoping for some strong opinions here based on past experience. So lay it on me.
I have a single plant, strain is plain old Diesel, grown from a feminized seed. She had a sister until “it” became confused and was overtaken with Gender Dysphoria (sp?), hermied, and had to be removed.
Anyway, growing in coco amended w/ dry organics. Light is a HLG 320 r-spec.
She has been under 12/12 for 63 days and started popping pistils almost immediately, so I’d say today is roughly day 60 of actual flowering.
All looks pretty good to me and the grow has been problem free, except for some burnt tips around week 5-6 of flower.
My question has to do with the foxtailing that is apparent on most of the buds. It’s been my observation that once the foxtails start, they continue to appear and with them the wave of new white pistils.
I think I’m pretty confident in determining when buds are ripe.:..and usually ripe buds are not covered or even partially dotted w/ white pistils.
Right now the trichomes are easily 2/3 milky with a very few random ambers.
I can see the trichs being in a very good harvest window a week to 10 days from now….but that’s just a guess.
I can also imagine the foxtailing to also be present and continuously cycling new ones.
I am not actively feeding anything now and my last top dress was a small one about 2 weeks ago.
Should Ignore any new foxtails (w/ white pistils) and harvest based on the overall stage of the trichomes?
I’ve really screwed up in the past letting buds grow too long waiting for amber trichs and waiting for every single random white pistil to turn color and recede. Because I waited the buds lost much of their terp profile….basically lost the pungent smell and not as sticky.
Right now these buds are stinking to high heaven and sticky as a glazed donut. I don’t wanna lose it.
What does everyone think??
