Fireworks Lead to Marijuana Charges

Two teens (18-year-old and a 16-year old) were reported multiple times to my local police last night for supposedly shooting fireworks at buildings. Cops found the pickup described in a parking lot with both kids inside. In an effort to prove he (the 16-year-old driving) didn't have fireworks on him, he opened the doors where a glass pipe was sitting. Strong marijuana odor. Obvious grounds to search the vehicle. So they were both arrested for several things (they found pipes, bud, wax, baggies, etc.)

The stupidity of some people amazes me. Unfortunately they give the rest of us who partake a bad reputation.

uhhh... the "rest of us" aren't 16 and 18...;-)...so, no worries...

If weed is illegal where they are, they should have taken precautions and secured it out of sight, or not had it with them when firing off fireworks, which I presume are also illegal. Sounds like they were screwed no matter what, once the cops got involved, if odor is probable cause to search, even if they had nothing to do with the fireworks. I never understood why so meany people drive around with paraphernalia, roll a couple joints, easy to hide, nothing left when it's done, so what if you smell?

They're just young and dumb.

Weed is illegal here (South Dakota) as well as fireworks. But even if they were legal, shooting them at buildings from a moving vehicle would still be illegal. They're (I'm not sure where you got I'm the 18 year old?) stupid for doing something so wreckless and not expecting cops, especially while having all of that on them.

I smoked when I was that age and I knew better. It's pretty easy to conceal, like you said. So to open up your door to a pipe right in the open, not a very intelligent move.

You didn't say they were firing from a vehicle the first time, but yeah still stupid. Young and dumb. Also. ..South Dakota.

I dunno, maybe my group of friends and I (at that age) were smarter than the average bears. I (or anyone I hung out with) would never have that stuff laying in the open, let alone willingly let a cop take a peak.
