First aero grow

I got one of those Hydrofarm Homegarden kits for christmas and planted 4 starters from seed in rockwol. I have 2 T8 fluros @68w total. I'm not new to growing ,but this is my first aero/non soil grow ever, I usally use the T-8's untill my plants are about 18" then I put on my 430W HPS for flowering. My question is how fast do they grow in aero? Should I start flowering earlier? Do you think that is enough light? Also I have 4 starters of the same strain and age in soil so i can get a side by side comparison. Also any advice on nutes would help. Plants are on a 18/6 right now with a height ranging from 2"-3" lights are 3" above canopy fan 24/7 temp 78-85, strain is my own Fem. hawaiian indica/unkown white strain. In soil they finish at about 3-4 feet with medium dense flowers that cover the branches. yield is nice for short plants, about 2-3 ounces per plant under hps 10weeks.

Hi Cirrus ...

I've been growing using the Aero technique for a few years now. I'll try to answer your questions.

1. Your 430 hps will grow some mighty fine bud.

2. The veg growth is so fast in Aero that you will be amazed.

3. The flowering time is exactly the same as it was in soil ... and is strain based.

4. The plants LOVE aero because they get so much more oxygen to their roots.

Be sure to have an extra submersible pump on hand just in case the pump fails. This is the biggest downfall to Aero. Pump failure equals dead plants. Get a PH tester and try to keep the PH of your solution between 5.2 and 6.0. You'll get the maximum nutrient uptake within that range. Use good nutrients. You don't need to go through the expense of the entire Advance Nutrient line. I just use Pure Blend Pro grow and bloom, and because I used RO water, I add CalMag.

That's it ... good luck.
