First CFL Grow - Help appreciated

Whoah - I'm def not the person to ask. I've never grown on a large scale with hps all I have is my reading and alot of sense. I personally would want to try alot of different things. Initially I might go with 25 big plants giving each 25sq'. But I would also prolly want to expiriment with lollipop clones and a sog. If you started them 12/12 right after rooting you could probably give each as little as 1x1' - with paths you could cram as many as 400 lollipops in there. Depends on so many things though. Like strain for one.

The plant that decided to flower a week later than the rest is getting way too tall. About to hit the top of my enclosure and I don't feel like making the enclosure any taller. Might have to start bending the thing over.

Oh yeah - UPS man brought me my 4 odor eliminating lights - put three in the grow closet and one in the hallway - will let you guys know how they work. Delivery guy mentioned about the smell 'Pretty skunky!'

How are the odor reducing lights?

rite now i figure per light there would be a area covered of 6 x 6 and 15-25 plants per light (which is better if it even makes sence?) which would make 9 6 x 6 and then save a light (and maybe add an extra light) for the 18 on 6 off room for germation, clones mothers seedlings and etc. this should total a 135-225 plants... how much pounds is that? and does this makes sense? any suggestions would be good

my buddy just finished a 26 plant grow and walked away with 15 oz... It really depends on how you treat them, the strain, veg time... 9 lights better fits the area equally but if you ahve a 10th might as well use it. Why not try different things under different lights? Here's what I might try: (yellow squares are 5x5)

So mixed reviews on the odor eliminating lights. They do work but not really enough to completely get rid of the smell. My closet is 5' from the front door of the appartment and with 3 bulbs in the closet and one in the hall right ouside the closet you cant smell the pot outside the door (to the appartment). If I keep the closet door closed you barely smell it when you open the front door. Most of the time I leave the closet door half open for heat reasons in which case the appartment smells fairly skunky but again it doesn't permiate outside the appartment. I'm sure if I replaced all of my indoor lighting with these bulbs and kept the lights on it would do the job but that's not really feasible for me.

So I was out all morning and just got back. Closet is cracked open about a foot and it really wasn't that pungent at all. I'm in full flower and it just smells like I have a buncha plants in veg - more of a tomato growing smell than pot. Who knows - maybe its working all the way and I'm actually smelling my veg cab which doesn't have any.

hey man! Saw your post on the 420 harvest thread and figured id drop by on your grow....very nice!!!!!!!!!!! By the way you put it, i just expected some tiny little buds....you've done an excellent job! Those last pics you posted are beautiful!!!!!!!!!! Rep to ya!

Thanks! Glad you stopped by.

So I've figured that I'll do a 5 day water cure and then 9 day dry/cure to have alil of my own for 420. which means ill be taking my first true nugs off the plant in like 3 days. Very excited. Was staring into the scope at the trichs and decided I had to take some pictures of the first plant that i'll be smoking.

3 days till harvest...very nice...have you ever water cured b4? If you havent, i think if you do, you'll be disappointed in the final product....watercuring takes alot of that sweet flavor away and i feel also some potency...i can say that from experience...have you done a good flush yet?...if you are still going to watercure, give them a good flush with about 2 tsp of molasses per gallon...the last water cure i did i started using molasses with my flush and it did give it some taste to it, but i like the- hang dry and jar type cure...definitly give them a good flush though or when you smoke your buds they will crackle and pop and taste funny...oh, your pics look awesome!

Hey. Those look great! well done! I agree with twistedidentities, you better try and water cure a small nug and see if u like it first. I personally dont... Enjoy your nice harvest!

Thanks guys - Never water cured b4 and was just thinking about it to have bud ready by 420. Wouldn't 5 day water cure and dry be better than 5 day dry and 10 day cure? Planning on just doing it to one lower branch - not cutting the whole plant in a couple days. One particular branch i've had my eyes on for a while, def more ripe than the rest. I'm planning on traditional cure other than this one bud unless I for some reason like the water cure method more. Really just don't want my bud to taste like grass on 420.

Lemme know if this logic is flawed. THanks!

man, its tough when your pressed to get smoke ready...lol...i was never happy with the water cures but it will get a bud ready quicker for 420 for sure...it wont taste like grass from the watercure it just wont have much taste at all...some molasses in a flush will at least give it some sweetness to it..if you smoke within the first couple weeks from harvest itll be like eating cotton candy kinda...ive done water cures with buds to be able to roll one and smoke it when im taking some on the road cuz it doesnt make the car smell...it still gets ya plenty high, you just lose taste and smell and a little potency, but then i know some that swear it makes it stronger...make sure you trim the leaves as close to the buds as possible, some you can just pull out. for a water cure i hang in dark cool spot for 3 days and water cure for 5 and then hang for 3 more days and it usually smokes fine...if you want taste just flavor the water...it will give it a hint of whatever you put in for flavor

Looks good to me dude! Mine were moving along just like that too. Check em out! But I just switched over to 12/12 at about 7" tall and 5 days in their going nuts! Almost a foot tall already and going strong! I'm no pro but it looks good to me. I've had lots of successful outdoor grows so I'm using that experience to keep it moving.

So i've officially decided that tomorrow is cut day for my first plant. Dunno how/why but this plant is ready (seeing first signs of amber on trichs and I prefer just cloudy) and it's not even two months old...I started flower on 2/26 which means this plant is only 5 1/2 weeks into flower. I really feel like I'm a retarded newb trying to cut early but trichs don't lie right? So far I have 60-30% brown hairs on the buds as well.

Well I need the room so the plant is coming down tomorrow - just hope i've given it a good enough flush (1 week).

Really perplexing though - the rest of my plants still have weeks to go. Some might be ready in 2 and a couple others in prolly another month. Def going to keep some clones of this plant though. If the smoke is good I might have to grow just it - 5 1/2 week flower and it has the biggest buds of any of my plants. fing nutso.

Diesel is a big yielder and early finisher right? Smells just like the diesel i just picked up and I know thats a possibility from the seeds I used. Ill bring a bud over to my buddy tomorrow and see what he says. Quite the pot conesouer and his disecting scope with 400x beats my compound microscope (well I have oil submersion up too 1000x but making slides and trying not to break the trichs isn't all that easy

Thanks. I think i'll just cure it regular now. Never had a problem with traditional methods so why fuck with it right? And It'll just teach me patience

if it works, dont change it...lol...man, you'll be happy you did it that way...hell, i've smoked stuff that just hung for a few days and loved the hell outta it...nothin like a nice fresh bong hit! Good luck with your harvest man..take care

Man those buds look GREEEAAAT! I was wondering, did you have most of your lights up top? Or were some of them hanging down by the mid to lower parts of the plant?

Either way they all look great and your girl is a fuckin CHAMP for posing for that pic! Cant wait to show that pic to my wife and tell her that's what I expect after harvest time HAHA!!

Hope the smoke is great and please do give a full report when you come down :bigjoint:
