First closet grow.. Have some questions...

  • I have a 3x2x8 closet. The closet is right behind my bathroom so I am going to tie my exhaust fan into my toilet vent and I may filter it in the attic with a carbon filter, I know I am a genius, haha.... I am also going to line it with reflective material. My questions are how many plants can I grow in this size closet, will I need an intake fan as well as the exhaust fan, and do you guys think I will need a carbon filter so the neighbors won't smell it.. My closest neighbors are probably 100 feet away.. The room is so small I know I won't be able to grow many plants at once so I didn't know if the smell would be bad enough for a filter.. All your time and help is appreciated...

naw, u wont smell too much with that small of a grow. And how many plants u can fit in it depends on how long u veg/what strain/pot size/and how u grow it. What about lighting?cooltube?size of fan exhaust?

Dont think you would need much especially a filter for a small grow like you say!

would love for you to keep me up to date when you start!

You can grow a lot of plants, you just have to keep them small. Or you can grow a few big ones. My space is that size and I grow 6 smallish (3ft) plants under a 400w hps. Set up your light and find out if you have a heat problem BEFORE you start growing. Keep in mind you WILL bring in air when you exhaust air - you won't create a vacuum. So where will that air be coming from? It won't help to exhaust 85 degree air if you bring in new 82 degree air. How cool can you keep the room outside the closet where the replacement air will come from? That's the key.

I am planning on growing some white widow and northern lights so the plants should be too large.. The air in the room stays around 70 degrees so it should cool the closet pretty good.. Do you guys think I should drill a hole in my closet door or will the exhaust fan pull enough air to cool the closet from under the door, I will probably just have to try it and adjust accordingly? What size light and exhaust fan would you guys recommend?
