okay so as far as I see it im gonna be getting a clu058 -1825 chip and driving it with a HEP185-54A driver.

besides some kind of cooling and wiring a 120V plug socket to the driver. soldering the output from the driver to the chip and thermal pasting and mounting the chip to a cooler. what else is there?

also is there a better driver for this chip?

Not the driver you want, you'd be pushing the cip into a lot of hgeat and low efficiency. For less money you can get the:
HLG185H-C1400B which will driver the chip at about 70 watts and 50% efficiency. You would need to driver two chips with it to be above minimum voltage

Soldering iron
Ideally silver solder
(this is for use on cob)
18 gauge wire ( to solder onto cob)
Iceled ultra/550/450 ( heatsink + fan)
Self tapping screws?

@pop22 but then the man has to spend and extra $60+ just to get a bit more efficiency

in principle there is nothing wrong with the 185-54A driver- he wants a single driver/cob solution and wants to run the chip hard. considering the chip runs out to 364W by design, there is certainly nothing "wrong" with running it over 70W per cob, in fact they are really efficient in the 100-150W range

now the HEP driver class is overkill when the HLG is the same spec, but the 185-54A is fine for a high-current application with that chip
