First deficiency?

hey guys. This plant is just over 3 weeks old and I'm staring to notice a few brown spots on some of the lower leaves. Today was watering day so everything was a little droopy, but I still feel like the newer growth is almost twisting as it grows. I am using FFOF. No nutes whatsoever yet. I watered with 6.5 and runoff was 6.5. Maybe calcium or magnesium? I looked up calcium deficiency and it seemed the spotting was a little different and my spots seem to be starting on older growth not the newer growth. Any ideas? Temps are between 72-78 and humidity between 40-50%IMG_1829.JPGIMG_1830.JPG

Ive noticed a inconsistency with FFOF. One bag was like it should be and the other bag seems like it wasn't mixed well or was the bottom of the pile. The off soil doesn't hold moisture as long and the plant in it has mag,cal defiance's where the other bag does not. From here on out I'm going to dump the bags to make sure there mixed and add perlite. That or move to happy frog.

Sweet!! Glad to have the reassurance. I should have bought the cal mag when I bought everything else. Another noob mistake. Just watered today so hopefully she'll be okay until Monday or Tuesday when I water again with added cal mag. Is there a way to get it up without overwatering since everything is still pretty damp?

Just add it in to normal watering. Its a VERY mild deficiency she is showing. She won't suddenly keel over on ya.

Cool. The new growth that's twisting a little is going to get topped off in a few days anyways. That should give me my 8 mains, and from there I should be able to ride out the rest of veg without touching her too much. Hoping it's a girl!!IMG_1817.JPGIMG_1816.JPG

Our well water is mildly hard, which means it's got some calcium and magnesium ions. Plus I was adding Cal-Mag. Even so, I fought leaf necrosis very similar to yours. For the second grow I re-used the FFOF soil from the first grow. The necrosis came back with a vengeance before I could even move the young plants out of their small pots. Before moving the young plants to big fabric bags I got a small bag of dolomite lime. Sifted some of the fine powder from the bottom of the bag, and threw a few handfuls into the soil that would be used to fill the big fabric bags. The necrosis went away.

If you're going to move your plants to bigger pots with more soil, mix some dolomite in during the move. Dolomite is a mineral. It won't make itself available to the plant in a big rush, so the amount you add isn't critical. It was something like two handfuls per bag of FoxFarms. I don't know what the dolomite did exactly, but it corrected the problem, something the commercial Cal-Mag couldn't do.

IMO even a healthy plant will abandon those first sets of leaves fairly quickly so don't let it get to you.
