I noticed the cotyledons were yellowing so I added some last night (135ppm). Can't wait for another 40ish days to go by lol. How are your 2 doing? Put Debbie in dwc?
It goes fast, you’ll b there soon.

my tent plant has been filling out relatively well. Just finished week 3 of flower and Pom poms are forming which is nice to see!

Debbie was doing real well outside and still is out there (always had her in DWC), but a heavy rainstorm came through tnt and knocked her over! I got her all patched up, but won’t know how she fared until daybreak..

How is it going? All good
Currently 4 days into a 6 day trip. Did my best to set the indoor system up to last the entire time I'm gone. The PH of the main res tends to drop over time, so I tried to account for that by increasing the PH of the top-off res AND I added a ~25% strength nutrient solution to the top-off res as well. Hopefully that will keep things going smoothly.

A close friend will be keeping an eye on Debbie.

Will check in with an update after I get back. Indoor plants will be 6 days into their 4th week of flower at that point.

How are things on your end?

That makes me nervous just thinking about going on vacation I done told the wife no vacation for me lol. I'm having ph issues so up sized my rez to 9 gallons from 3 so hope that helps it stabelize. Also gonnaale it recirculating so that will increase h20 volume as well

yeah I was preparing myself for disaster, but turns out they fared well. Debbie was very low on water, but survived and the indoor plant is great. Top-off res kept it in good shape with a healthy PH and nutrient balance.

Buds are clearly forming now on the indoor plant and you can see below that it's filling out the tent well.

Thats awesome! I'm actually working on a project now to hopefully help my ph stabelize. Adding a control rez connected with 2" piping and 3/4" line coming off a 475gph pump it should be about 25 gallons or so.

Looking great man. I just started my two next ones. Good luck the rest of the way

Nice, yeah PH is tricky. Mine tends to drop over time so I tried to account for that by making the PH in the top-off res higher. It worked, just too well. Instead of my PH dropping, it began trending higher, so just need to lower the PH in my top-off a bit.

It’s also interesting that the sensitivity of the water to PH swings changes depending on the concentration of nutrients. At least that’s what it seems!

This article helped me understand how pH changes due to nutrient uptake.
"As the plants absorb these nutrients through their root systems, the system slowly loses its acidity to become alkaline. Over time, the pH numbers will gradually rise until you add more nutrients."

My experience as a grower is limited - one grow three years ago where I tried to “fix” pH. After issue and a couple of other issues, I archived the tent until this year. My current grow has had none of the pH “problems”. Nute burn is in indicator that the TDS is too high so, when we see leaves starting to yellow, we drop the TDS of our nutes. Similarly, dropping pH could well be an indicator that the TDS is too high (another cause is root rot but, from what I’ve read, it’s easy to tell because the roots smell awful and pH plummets rather than dropping slowly).

I’ve attached what I refer to as the Wonder Chart and, also, Son of Wonder Chart (the latter is found here). I’ve followed these two charts religiously and, in the 94 days of this current grow (4 Gorilla Glue autos in a large RDWC res) the only issue that I’ve had was when I sprinkled a few drops of nutes on a few leaves. Other than that, the foliage has been “picture perfect” - the opposite of my 2017 grow.

I’ve used this chart as well, but haven’t been able to understand the PH drop scenario = change reservoir.

My PH tends to trend downward under normal circumstances, yet the leaves look great and the nutrients are clearly being absorbed.

I typically just boost the nutrients as they drop and readjust PH.

I hear ya and I’m of the same mind. I’ve had pH drop right after a res change and my changes are very gradual so I disregard that. A major point for me is “This is a change but is it a trend?” I’ve got to fight of my somewhat OC/newbie-helicopter-plant-daddy behavior to hold off until it becomes a trend.

The two conditions are not exclusive. You might find that upping TDS will stop the pH from dropping. A key phrase that’s missing is “will tend to”. When nutes are taken up, pH will tend to rise but other factors in the res may cause pH to fall. The only other thing that I’ve read about that drops pH is decaying plant material. Any chance that there’s some vegetation in the res?

This article is an interesting read, especially "The preliminary results of NCSU’s research imply that vegetative stock plants of cannabis have a wide substrate pH range in which the plants will optimally grow. That range appears to be as wide as pH 5.0 to 7.0.” I need to re-read it but, IIRC, the argument is that cannabis will do well in a much wider range of pH than conventional wisdom tells us.

Yeah I killed 2 males that were in that same reservoir, it's possible that some of their roots were not removed because they had become interwoven with the remaining plant's root system. This could be contributing to the PH drop. The PH has been remaining steady recently since i have a higher PH that's feeding in from the top-off res.

Interesting! Will give the article a read soon.

Some more photos below! Exciting to see the buds maturing.

Heh, I’m in a similar situation. Yesterday, I harvested 1 plant out of 4 in the res and had to cut off the roots. I did a res swap and it went from [email protected] on Saturday afternoon to [email protected] this morning. That's a very gentle drop in a res that has, otherwise, been very stable for 97 days. Sounds like sprinkling in some Up might do the trick.

Agreed. Huge fan leaves and really nice looking plants!

Thanx for posting the “wonder charts” they explain quite well what’s going on in day to day readings. Got em hanging on the wall!

That's awesome didn't know there was such a thing. Looking to order thanks
I used one with my iPhone XS Max and it was great until you switch to telephoto. At that point, the screen goes dark. I tried moving the sensor in every location and got the same result. I contacted MethodSeven and they were skeptical at first but they emailed me and said that they were able to reproduce the issue and were going to be in touch with Apple re. that issue.
When I bought a macro lens, I hit the same thing so it's not MethodSeven.
The "workaround" is to zoom in to 1.9x. If you go to 2x, you get a black screen but you're OK at 1.9. I suspect that going to 1.9x is "digital zoom" (marketing hype) vs 2x which engages the telephoto lens but I never tested that.
Net net is that the filter works nicely but there's something in the iPhone that goes stupid at 2x.
HTH.
