every strain grows different, and you have them under a hps ,which doesnt promote alot of vegetative growth, are they on a 12/12 cycle already?Cause you need some veg time to get the roots to fill in those 5 gal buckets,at least three weeks in soil, get some good organics for feed with myco in it to speed it up,or hygrozyme, sensizym, cannzym, pick one,you want the roots to fill those buckets if you want a decent yield
You can do your entire grow under hps and most growers here do.
you must have learned everything from google.
You sound like a google expert.
He wasn't saying put it in to 12/12 he was asking. Secondly I use metal halide for veg and hps for bloom. I've tried hps through a life span and noticed stretching and a slower growth although not a massive difference. Common rule of thumb on lighting distance, if your hand can feel it your plant can feel it. 8-12 inch is sufficient. On cool tubes with a vent pulling and pushing I've ran it to the glass, with no light burn. Currently having to do that. Lack of space in my grow tent vegged them longer than I should have. Shit happens though, Whatever works for you and what you have truthfully. Back to lighting I have never done a vertical light, let me know how that works on those two beauties. Also learning first hand is far better than searching through forums and getting bashed. Everyone starts somewhere. Best luck on the grow
Also take that ballast off of low setting unless trying up conserve on your pud bill.
Full blast, if I remember correctly you said you had a 600w? Light density isn't gonna hurt the plant it will actually help it. The brighter the light the better. Temp kills not light. I change out bulb every two crops. So the lumens are constantly at a high. Bulbs lose brightness over time......if you want a good book that's a good beginners guide with a lot of pictures go on amazon and order......"marijuana horticulture - the indoor/outdoor medical growers bible." It's not the end all be all but it is a very helpful little book to have. Read, read, and read some more when lost.
