First Grow 300 Watt LED Fire OG Kush

Day 33:

11am- Lights just turned off the final time on my 18/6 cycle. I just reset my timer to 12/12. on at 7am off at 7pm, starting Friday. This means my plant is going to be in a dark cycle for the next 20 hours. It wasn't planning for any dark cycle before flipping to 12/12 but it just worked out that way. Some people actually leave the lights off 24-36 hours before flipping to 12/12, saying it triggers faster. I don't know if its true, and I really don't care because it usually takes 3-4 days to trigger flowering in my opinion. My SCROG screen is at least 70% full now, and there are still some growth in some areas only an inch or two away from the screen. I am sure during flowering they will be able to reach, during the stretch period. I plan to clean up below the SCROG screen 2 weeks into flowering. Then I can take clones and really get a good feel for which areas are going to hit the SCROG screen and what isnt.

I took a few pics before I locked up my growbox for the dark period. I chose to use night time as my dark period, because this growbox is not light tight! I always see light leakage while the lights are on. I bought some reflective tape to seal some corners but now I am covering the whole growbox with a blanket as well during the dark period. After this LED experiment, I am planning to get a 5 x5 growtent with 2 357 magnum LEDs and grow 9 5 gallon pots using the SCROG method. This was just a trial run to see if LEDs can really grow a plant from start to finish. I was very skeptical at first, but so far I can't remember seeing a plant grow so fast and healthy.. I am probably going to use this grow box as a clone/seedling area in the top portion, and a vegetative area in the lower portion. Then I would not have to worry about any light leakage, space, etc.

Day 35/ Flower Day 1:

So I woke up this morning after a 20 hour dark period to check to see if my timer went off correctly, everything is on point. Fed today Flower Nutes Week 1, 1/2 gallon. Everything is looking really bushy and my SCROG screen really filled up quick. I am at 35/42 of the SCROG screen which is 83% full. I should have maybe started flowering a few days earlier, but I could not anticipate how much this lil girl is growing! I am not sure if it is the House and Garden Nutes or the LED light? Well she is getting a lot of light, 300 watts (240 actual draw) just for one plant! I think she is just being a light whore and taking it all in. So now the fun begins! Come on buds!

Lookin nice. I'm gonna have to order one of those 357s.

I really like the 357, but I am also looking into the 500 watt Blackstar 3w from Lighthouse Hydro. Its $550 on ebay! The actual power draw is 320w vs 357 @ 180 watts.

So I got impatient and I just bought a 500 watt Blackstar from Lighthouse Hydro. Same company as my 300 watt that Im using for this grow. Apparently the light I am using is for flowering, but can be used for Vegging. As you can tell, the 300 watt Vegged my plant no problemo, and now we are onto flowering. I also purchased a 40x40x72 Grow tent. I am planning to finish off this Fire OG grow in the growbox, but also start another SCROG with 4 plants in my growtent using the 500 Watt Blackstar. In the future, I will use the upper section of my growbox for clones and seedlings, the lower section as my Veg area for 4 plants. I will be able to flip them pretty quick once I move them over to my Grow Tent. The power draw on the 500 watt Blackstar is 320, and my 300w power draw is 240. Ill be happy with the power consumption and heat with this setup. I might take clones from my plant and start vegging those suckers.

I can't wait til I can get myself a blackstar but with all the other bs I just invested in I can't yet but it will be mine soon enough lol.

Flower Day 3:

Not much to really update. I trimmed a bunch of the leaves below the screen, and left six prospects for clones. My SCROG screen is filling up and its getting pretty dense in there. Here are a few pics 1 hour after the lights came on today. I moved this grow box to another room in preparation for my Grow Tent and my 500w Blackstar! Still deciding if I want to do 4-6 plant SCROG or just let them grow on their own. I might do a SCROG with different strains, or I might just do all OG Kush again...Ill decide all this once my Grow Tent arrives.

No Problem Tripp! Thanks for following the thread. It has changed a lot since you last checked! Hey what kinda blackstar are you trying to get? Buy it on EBAY its way cheaper. Its all from Gotham Hydro, if you look at who is selling it online. I talked to the guy VIctor and confirmed everything is legit. They have great prices on the 2011 model 240w and the 500w. I think the 240 goes for $289, and the 500 goes for $550! Pretty damn cheap for a great light!

Flower Day 4:

I cleaned up anything past 6 inches below the screen, and took 8 cuttings today. Hopefully, I will be able to get 6 healthy clones from them. Everything looks pretty good with my lil lady, but im kinda upset with my growbox. This thing is not light tight! I went to Home Depot today trying to get velcro for my upper chamber so I could velcro the top chamber with mylar. I am still getting 1% light leakage, and couldnt risk getting a hermie from it. So I ended up sticking my glow panel underneath a desk, and threw the humidome under it. Pretty ghetto, but I had to improvise. Hopefully, things workout by the time my Grow tent Comes. My light is supposed to arrive next monday. If the clones root and make it, Ill throw it right in there right away under the 500w. I had no problem with the mother from clone under the 300 right away, hopefully things will be the same. Otherwise, Ill just roll to the dispensary and buy some more clones. I have some White Widow feminized seeds, but I really like OGs. Don't know if I am going to use those seeds ever...

Flower Day 5:

Today I looked at my girl and she's making the stretch! She definitely is stretching out, I also found a bunch of pistils forming all over, so thats a good sign. My clones on the other hand arent doing so hot. I think 70% will survive.

Flower Day 6, Clones Day 4.

Still exploding in my grow box, clones are doing a little better. New growth showing, they might make it! Grow Tent and 500 Watt Blackstar arriving tomorrow! Going to set it up, and wait for those clones to root. Throw them straight in there, Veg them from clone to flower, Scrog em in about 2 weeks.

Flower Day 7:

So my girl is really filling up in the grow cabinet, and there are about 45 bud sites showing as of now. My clones are surviving so far, but still no roots showing.

But my 500W Blackstar, and my grow tent showed up today! Just finished setting it up. Turned on the blackstar to see if everything was working, everything checks out! Pretty damn bright and I love the black paint. Hopefully those clones start rooting soon, so I can throw them in the grow tent and get things rolling. Still debating if I want to make things complicated and SCROG or just let all 6 grow normally.Also debating if I want to go 3 gallon or 5 gallon pots. Decisions, decisions!

i wish you the best bud...have you ever used LED before? i'm 3 weeks in with the magnums...i've lost my faith on everything i see on this site..but if theres a way LED works.. I'd like to see it.. But i think i lit my $1500 on fire.. I'm gonna check back and hope everything goes good for ya..I dont know how to advertise my journal but if you can find it come take a look..its called GC under the magnums

Sup Dalamar? Sorry to hear that you are so bummed out! This is my first LED grow. I experimented with this small growbox using a LED first, before I decided to go bigger and buy a grow tent and a Blackstar. I was skeptical of growing with LEDs, but after seeing Dunit's, Irishboys, Kushgroove's journals, I was determined to start growing with LEDs. I checked out your journal real quick, and from what I see everything looks right. You have your lights the correct distance, and your plants look healthy. What kind of nutes are you using? Have you grown this strain before? I am only on day 7 of flower and I see maaaad pistils everywhere! I can imagine it only at your stage in 3 weeks! I almost got the magnums, but opted for a bigger power drawing unit, the 500 Watt Blackstar with 3w chips, actual draw 304 watts. When I turned on the light in my grow tent today, i honestly was a little skeptical that this one light is going to light up a 12 sq ft grow tent and have the correct footprint. Worse comes to worse Ill have to grab another one. Once my clones start rooting I will throw it up in my grow tent and start another journal on that. You are welcome to follow that one also. Maybe you should talk to Dunit, he has the same setup as you, he might give you some tips. His grow right now is on point!

I use advanced nutes.. And use additional organic and Nirvana.. I've used the same strain for 2 years.. In the room right beside it under 400s everything is normal.. Is used the same strain, nutes, soil, everything.. Only difference is light. I also supplemented my LED with co2..I'm tellin ya dude i think it's a scam... I hope you are for real.. I followed Dunits grows and chose the magnums just because of that.. I only bought 2 lights because I knew that even if it didn't go good I could still use them for vegging.. And unless there is drastic change in the next 2 weeks that's all they will be good for..I don't wish ill will on anybody, but if I'm right I hope people find out the truth.. That's why I say I hope you are for real and I look forward to following your grow.. I've grown steady for over 4 years..And the buds are so small they almost can't be trimmed..SAD.. Green Crak is my strain and is usually 42 days.. I'll take a pics of the ones under the 400s to show the difference..I have 2 magnums, sealed room, co2 an I bet I don't get 1 ounce..I admit though; the plants look healthy.. Really healthy, the leaves stand right up.. I'm no scientist but there is something in HPS that LED still doesn't have.Believe me, I'm not a noob at this..just dissapointed.. I had high hopes.. Damn, now you got me a little worried! Try talking to Dunit, he might be able to help you! I just setup my new grow, and started another journal today, 6 OG Kush plants under 1 500 watt Blackstar (actual draw 304 watts). I almost bought those Magnums too because of Dunits journal. I wish you the best man. Oh ya, I noticed your journal is in the wrong area. Goto grow journal tab in the forums, then push start new thread. I am about to take some pictures in 10 minutes of my Fire OG without LED lights on.

Flower Day 8:

Im running out of room out of this little grow cabinet even with a SCROG screen! I think I am only able to raise my lights another 1-2 inches max, then Im risking some of my buds bleaching in the future. I might have to do some LST in the future to prevent them getting too close to the LED light.

There are a few sites that out grew the rest of the canopy, and since I have no more room to train them in the screen I have to let them go. The good news is, I am getting a lot of pistil action going on! It is getting warmer here, and I had to water her 1/2 gallon today. So thats every other day half a gallon? She is a really thirsty lil girl. I dont really have a camera besides my iphone, so I apologize for the picture quality. Here are some updated pictures.

Here are some updated pictures. Trimmed up a little more below the SCROG screen this morning. Concerned about plant hitting my lights and bleaching. Might have to start training by tying branches down. Plant is healthy and pistils are everywhere.
