This isn’t a journal, more like a what I did or didn’t screw up. I’m new here but lurked for a long time. I can be vulgar, I apologize, some people say I can be harsh, some people think I’m funny, just a normal dude trying to grow some flowers.

I’ve never grown, or seen anyone grow.

What I got,
Built a 32” square closet, it’s lined with bubble foil, has a door that seals up tight, it’s 84” tall. I cut an intake hole down low, and exhaust out the top.
I’ve got a 6” ac infinity fan, charcoal filter.
Black dog 400 led light.
There’s a couple pos 6” fans to move air around, just got one in there now. Mounted a piece of conduit to attach the fans too.

I’ve got fox farms trio.
Using tap water, it’s wet.
I got a ph meter today but am yet to check ph on any water.

The plants and their history.
Bag seeds. Only 2 seeds I’ve ever found in any herb I’ve got. Know a guy I can get clones from.
Got a wild hair on my ass and I threw the seeds in a bag with a paper towel, they sprouted. I put them in a huge pot out on my deck. Like half a whiskey barrel size, speaking of which my glass is empty. I filled the pot with fox farms ocean forest, farm supply had it on clearance, $.99 a bag. Grabbed 20 bags. They grew outside on my deck for 45 days. I topped them at some point, just watered with tap water.

Where are we today.
Been in the tent 2 days. They’re roughly 47 days old. They only got 5 hours of direct sun on my deck. Joys of living in the woods. The day I put them in the tent I transplanted them into 5 gal fabric pots. Light is on 18/6, 24” away from plants (might be a bit close), 85° F is my temp, humidity is low at 50%, I turned dehum up in basement to try and aid that. I watered each 1/2 gal yesterday with ff nutes for the first time, 1/2 concentration of what they specify. I didn’t ph the water out of my tap. I did ph it today and it was 9.2 out of the tap, if the meter I bought was right.

Curly leaves but growing gang busters inside. Think my humidity is too low. Possibly light too close. Any other advise?

I’ve got a mountain of 5 gallon buckets, I’ll cut the bottoms off a few tomorrow and drill a slew of holes in them. Use them to space the plants off the floor

I'm also on my first indoor grow round 2 and here's why..I took clones off my outdoor plants and rooted them then potted them and off they went growing beautifully indoors and about day 27 indoors I noticed what looked like chew Mark's on the leaves...here's what happened...the plants outside had a moth or butterfly or whatever land on it and it left larva on the leaves and once I brought them indoors and the eggs hatched I had microscopic bugs eating my plants so I said fuck this shit and tossed them.it put me back 5 weeks I had to dr doom my room and javex it down and buy new seeds and start over...not to disappoint ya but I'd bet my pay cheque you'll have bugs within a month.good luck .

Thanks for the encouragement.

I put them up off the floor an inch and a half.

I took one outside just before night time, they have some issues. Hate to give up on them. My friend has 4 gelato clones ready to go though... Rather stick with these and learn from them.

Never actually seen a black dog grow completed so will follow.

I would raise your light or dim it. Look light stressed and 420w is a lot of light for veg.
Get a cheap ph test to double check your meter is correct. If your tap isn't 9.2 then your going to be way off when you ph it.

Good luck.

I’ll raise the light some this afternoon when it comes back on.
I got some other ph test strips to compare the meter to, I’ll check that this afternoon as well.

It’s sun up in my closet. Received my replacement light and got it put in. (Original light had a panel doa right out of the box, replaced whole thing no money out of my pocket)

Changes-
Light raised up to 32” above canopy.
Pots are set on some custom risers I made from bucket bottoms, so water will drain into the pans away from the pots, also another thermal break from the floor.
No water today

I think my plant issues are over watering. From what I’ve read my symptoms fit it. It’s often amplified by a small plant in a big pot, like I’ve got. I can feel moisture on top of the soil with the back of my hand. Next grow I’ll put some peat in this soil so it will drain better.

I’ll update this hopefully with some improvements

I started with a LED no where near the quality but nearly the same average draw from the wall in my 4x4 tent. As long as I keep the light 30-36" above the canopy I haven't had any issues. They've been under it since they were 2 weeks old.

Wound up canning 88qts of corn this evening, ended up pretty gummed up... Plants grew today. Soil is drying out, I can slip a few fingers between pot and soil, still a ton of moisture in the pot. Guess I’m still convinced I have over watered.

There was a lot of changes the day I put them in the tent. Transplant, got watered, then I got an inch of rain on top of them, then my dumbass watered them a day later. So still no water since wednesday, light and temp left alone. 80°F and 60% humidity. Last water was Wednesday. I have ph down ready and am set to water but don’t think they need it. Bit gummed up but sure they be ok till morning. In a few hours.

Still moisture in the soil. They look worse this morning. Thinking about throwing in the towel and starting fresh without all the variables I had in the beginning

Well they looked worse today a couple hours after they woke up, a few leaves fell off overnight. Cut the plants, spread the dirt in a few low spots in the yard. Not as many roots as I expected. Guess those plants thought I was going to kiss their ass. First grow version 1.2 may start as soon as this evening.

Do you still have this?
Nice so far for your first time! You know more about what you are doing than most.
They look over watered, put a fan on the pots and they will dry out quicker. If they are in veg set your light to 24hours on. It will help them dry out. They don't drink much in the dark. poke holes with a dowel rod in the soil to help it air out.
Also, don't ever take your indoor plants outside, high chance of bringing something back in.
This is all just my opinion.

Unfortunately I scrapped these. I did too much wrong and didn’t want to put more time into some unknown bag seed only to find out their both males. I agree on the over watering. I did take a pencil and poke holes in the soil. Just seemed like they wouldn’t come back around. I cut a lot of roots transplanting them. Guessing that was the nail in the coffin. Started a new grow, there’s a post in here with those.

Are you referring to the light? They sent me a new one and I sent the old one back. New one works 100%.
Gotcha, that's awesome.
I was going to say, that light probably had a loose wire or a bad solder, could have her fixed up and have two, lol. I'm surprised they wanted it back, they must have known that as well, lol.
