Okay well my water level is about a 1/2 inch above the white line, but for now that will work fine I think. I'll keep it lower from here on.

Mr2shim thanks for stopping by and subbing. Your strawberry diesel grow looked great.

Here is brief, but exciting update: Everything is looking good both the PH and PPMs seem to be stable now at 6.0PH and 178PPM. The good news is tonight I looked in the lower reservoir and happened to find lots of long white roots coming through. I can't wait to see how fast she grows in the next few weeks. Here are some photos:

Quick photo update for today. The plant is looking really good and green. She hasn't taken off yet in growth rate but both the roots and the vegetation seem to be growing well. PH is 6.0 and PPM is 175. I moved the 400w lamp down about a foot to get it closer to the plant. I'm hoping this will help to speed up the growth a little bit.

This evening I looked in the tent and noticed the very tips of the first to sets of serrated leaves are turning brown at the tips. This only extends down about 2mm no more from the tip so I'm not sure if I should worry about this or not. I checked the PH today it's back up to 6.5 so I think I'll change out a little water and rinse the reservoir out one last time. Let me know if you think this is any sort of problem.

PH 6.5
PPM 170

This is happening to mine as well, you can see it on the edges (check out the leaves on the top). However it's not worrying me since she's growing amazingly fast and all the new leaves are looking great. At the moment ppms are at about 420 and ph at 5.8. The picture was taken about 10-15 minutes ago).

Yeah it wasn't worrying me too much as I am also seeing a rapid take off in growth rate, but I just wanted to be safer than sorry. Your plant is looking really good you have been training her nicely. I just pulled my girl over on to her side tonight to help bring up the lower branches. She's finally starting to eat up some nutes so I'll be looking at upping the PPM's in a little bit to around 300.

Time for an update again! The plant is growing great strong and steady and very green. Some yellow spots sporadically, but nothing that's bothering me. Tonight I'm changing out the reservoir and bumping the nutes to half strength with the lucas formula. Take a look at these pictures and let me know what you think. I got a couple questions as well: Is it time to get a screen put on this lady? I found something at home that might work as a screen, but I'm not sure. I included a picture of it so let me know if you think it will or not. I have tied a few strings across it the metal grate to add more perpendicular intersections. Enjoy the pictures!

Nice growth! About the screen, I'd like to see the mesh being a bit larger, if you can get a hold of a cutter take away half of the wires. Or now that I'm seeing it again take the whole thing out and do a new one, it looks really tight, at least in my eyes

oh and i agree with blue u are going to have to pull and push your tips and leaves through those holes so you will need some room. 50mm holes are a good size

Thanks! Okay, this is just something I had lying around that would save me the effort of putting one together, but those gaps are only an inch wide so I think you're right its too tight. I'll try and make something tomorrow after I get some supplies.

Thanks! I think once I make my screen up tomorrow I'll be able to decide if I'm ready or to lay it down or not.

Cheers

isnt it amazing how they just take soooo long in that small seedling stage. it seems to go forever then within a week or 2 u all of a sudden have these huge plants.

Seems to me that once the roots make their way to the rez then the growth starts to explode.

whats your plan for watering it? u just going to pour it in through the screen? or you just gonna get like a hose or something and feed it under the screen?

If it helps, I'm using a 30 litre measured bucket with a tap that I put on a stool with adjustable height, from there I connect a hose that goes straight into the hydroton.

oh thats a sweet idea. i hae been thinking of a way to do this myself i think by dropping the screen early it promotes more even growth and u dont end up with all the smaller branches stretching to catch up as nearly all the branches are exposed to light from a very early age. i think u will see good results like this
