First Grow! 6x6 Room

So I'm am on week 3 of my very first hydro grow and It's been nothing but good to me
my ladies have been vegging for 3 weeks now. I am not sure how long I should let them veg for someone told me keep them vegging as long as I can..... But how long is long enough ?

With INDICA's the average VEG/FLOWER ratio is considered to ve 2:1

So, I you stop VEG cycle at 12" high they should be around 24" high at the end of the FLOWER cycle.
How tall would you like them?

Some strains will differ dramatically from this ratio rule
or even some individual pheno's within the strain....

SATIVA's can have a 1:5 ratio !
You start FLOWER photoperiod when they're 1' high and they're 5' by the time you harvest!!!

rule of thumb is 3 times taller than when you started flower. if your plants are 1 foot tall they'll be 3. I also use a 6.5x6.5x6.5 tent. pinch the tops over and go with it

Healthy and vigorous looking youngsters.

I grow in clay pebbles using an ATAMI WILMA system.

4 x 4 x 6 tent, 1000w LUMATEK with Ventilated Reflector
I've been doing BUD and FLOWER (changing from MH to HPS when cutting back the hours)

On Saturday these 9 plants are being moved into a 8 x 4 x 6' tent
with the same light/hood system
and the 4 x 4 x 6 is going to be a VEG only tent.

I have a WILMA 20 (X 6,5lt Pots)
and I'll use 600w of MH
(maybe use any CFL's or T5's as supplementary lighting....?).

At the end of the VEG phase they will go into 18lt pots in the 8 x 4 tent.

I have my 1000w LUMATEK DIMMABLE (600w, 750w, 1000w or 1100w)
My LUMII 600w -
and
2 x MAXIBRIGHT 600w.
All 3 of the 600watters have basic open reflectors.

I'm unsure which light will go where?

1000w in the VEG
1800W (3 X 600) in the FLOWER....?
(this would work out at more watts per sq ft in the VEG than in the FLOWER).

1000w (dialled down to 600) in the VEG
and 2 x 600w in the FLOWER....?

Less electricity usage - maybe add extra for the final month of FLOWER,,,,?

Where do you guys get this information. I've been growing cannabis for over 15 years and I have yet to find an Indica plant that doubles or even triples in size indoors. Perhaps outside. In my experience putting a 3 foot indica plant will be about 4 feet at the end of harvest. A little more for a sativa. If there is sufficient light, stretching should be minimal throughout the plants life. The only real stretching should be in the first 2 maybe 3 weeks of flowering. With that said most people don't grow indoor plants over about 2-3 feet because the light intensity greatly diminishes with distances over a couple feet. Even if you could grow a 6 foot plant the bottom half or more wouldn't produce much dense high quality cannabis because of lack of light. I use 4-1000k HPS lamps and I keep them 1 foot away from the canopy. Anything 2 feet and further produces small buds and gets completely trimmed out.

Page 515 - End note 46

"As soon as the plant is flowered it continues to grow rapidly in height again. For Indica, the "vegetative growth to flower height ratio" is usually about 1:2. Indica plants that flower at 2 feet, usually finish at 4. For Sativa this ratio can go as high as 1:5. Some Sativa strains that are flowered at 2feet can finish at 10feet."

The Indica/Sativa ratio will affect the VEG/FLOWER ratio

But to just accept a blanket statement that '1:3 is the raio' is an oversimplification by someone who clearly can only cope with less nuanced concepts.
(He's Irish so it's not that astounding.

Personally I find these ratio's an oversimplification,
If you veg them for very short time, them reduce light to flower cycle - the increase will almost certainly be more than 100%.
However, if you have a particularly long VEG cycle, the flower phase may only add another 25% of height.

I just started to FLOWER my 9 girls.
(after cuttings stayed under T5's for 14 days
then they went under MH and DUEL SPEC for 48 days)

They were an average of 22" each, at the start of flower photoperiod.
This is their tenth day and they have grown very little
(apart from the reckling of the group which was only 15" and has SHOT UP!).

The paddy just pissed me off with his black and white, absolutely certain ratio.
This is NATURE we're attempting to control, replicate or even improve upon....

if you make plans around a cast iron rule of 2:1 - you'll end up with all kinds of results.

They are only 6" tall after 3 weeks.... I guess I will let them go for another week.
I am not sure if they are a indica or sativa, I would like them to be tall enough to yield more then a couple zips.

Someone told me that I had too much light on my ladies ?

In my current grow, which is Chemdawg, my plants have at least tripled in size... You be the judge.
