First grow attempt...

you need an air cooled ballast and a fan pulling the air out of the room. There isnt another answer to lower heat imo.
 
well my ballast is fan cooled and is out of the tent on a shelf in the closet and then I have a 190cfm pulling air out of the tent and blowing out of the closet. rearranged the duct to the top of the tent and moved the intake fan to the inside to circulate air and now have a passive intake, the walls of the tent concave in slightly from the negative pressure. My temp is at a steady 91F. so besides that what more could I do?

It is an air cooled ballast. I know a air cooled hood would be most beneficial, but I am in between pay periods so need a decent temp fix for a bit
 
Open a side flap to let more air in.

If you are still vegging, just open the bottom of the door to tent. A little light during veg dark cycle won't hurt the plant.

What is the temp outside your tent normally at?
 
I do have one flap open on the bottom, probably 10in x 5in. Should I open the door more and relieve the negative pressure? The room probably sits around 72-74
 
Until you get more money for a cool tube, I would keep the tent open enough to get a really good air flow going.

That should bring your temps down into mid eighties.

I guess as long as there's some negative pressure you're good, I had to do this before changing grow tents.
It lets the bastard fungus gnats in though.

But 72-74 is okay imo ...
 
Not the negative pressure...having the tent flap open...unless you have some fly screen up of course....
 
well if I have to keep this flap open for a bit, say a week or two, should I go buy some netting and tape it on the openings until then?
 
so with the flap opened on the bottom the temps are down to 82. I should be okay through veg with this right?
 
So I noticed some abnormalities on one plant a while back and just let them go for a little bit since all the others were doing so well. (thought it also might be because it was a seed from some dirt bud) Should I be worried though?
