First Grow. Autos outside. Enough time?

Hello brothers and sisters,
I'm a complete noob and am afraid I'm getting too late of a start. My seeds just shipped yesterday from Gorilla Seed Bank in the UK. I have no idea when they will get here but I'm scared I'm going to run out of time.
Saving grace is I am in southeast USA and we get nearly 12 hours of sun and 80+ degree Temps until the end of September.
All of that rambling being said, am I going to be ok on time? What can I expect with the time I have left assuming I get seeds germinated as late as early June?

Well....it will take about 2 weeks from the time that you place your order for you to get it...give or take a few days because they usually get hung up for several days at the airport when they get to the states. However.....autos are not not photo period plants....most start flowering withing 4 weeks and from germination to harvest is about 2 1/2- to 3 months tops. You will be fine. Just know autos do not produce outdoors well if you are just planning on keeping them outside.

Yeah 12 hours of light isnt going to be eniugh to give those seeds any yield at all. My reccomendation? First month of its light keep it under cfls. Bring out the plant a few hours whenever you can so it harderns to the sun before being put fully outdoors

Chris, if you are aiming for a 4th of July harvest, there won't be enough time. But it will be dried, cured and smoked by Labor Day.

Fantastic. I'm not shooting for a specific date. I just have no idea how long it takes from seed to harvest so I've been freaking out about running out of time daylight and warm days. We stay pretty warm here, sometimes until mid to late October.

Just checked your profile and saw you are in my neck of the woods so obviously you are aware of the temps here. That being said, now I know you are close by, I am super encouraged by your feedback.

Idm iv gottwn fair yields outdoors with autos. I've grown them through frost at the end of flowering. Genetics definitely matters and autos don't like constant moisture. Bud rot was the biggest thing to look out for while outdoors in both auto and photo. I live in a very hot and humid climate. But i'm taking a break from outdoors growing for a few years because I'm moving to an apartment for work....uhh

But if frost storms through, watch your weather reports and cover them with a sheet but don't let the sheet rest on the plant itself.

For future reference, critical auto does very well outdoors.

I'm nearby- as everyone above has said, your timing is fine. Be ready to sow & germinate as soon as you get the seeds to take advantage of longer days. I started in mid- March and was way to soon. I think anytime mid- April through end of June is fine to get started.

I speak with many years outdoor experience but also as a first time auto grower.

You'll be fine time wise and you are starting at a perfect time for auto's but as said bud rot will be a concern. I typically have had to pull early with my auto's due to rot and that was mid August due to high humidity and high temps, so far auto's seem to be prone to the rot IMO. Also they've all sucked potency wise . Haven't given up though and just started 6 think different .

Any preventative measures for the bud rot?
While on this subject, any other preventative steps I need to take for other things like bugs, slugs, etc.?

Not sure where youre from but in my area spider mites and caterpillars consistently ruin crops. You can pick up neem oil for the spider mites. Ive been using BT to get rid of my caterpillars, most seasoned outdoor growers think its ok to use all the way through harvest.

I also use jacks deadbug for a number of things (spinosad) i would use all 3 in veg to prevent any pest problems during flower. Make sure you get Bt on all preflowrtd

You can pick all of these things mentioned at home depot or lowes for about $30

Insect netting and companion planting helps prevent insects. I've noticed grasshopper when growing in the woods but not when growing in a diverse garden. Also, insect netting actually caused the humidity to increase and led to more rot sites.

Don't foliar spray a water logged plant and certainly don't do it in the middle of flower. If you have access to a greenhouse or a glass roof, use it. The rain geta everything wet as opposed to only the soil. Rain is great for vegging plants because it stimulates the cells but is.morw harm than benefit during flower.

Companion planting with mint, thyme, or oregano can prevent green catepillar. And if you add a legume this will help supply nitrogen in the soil but will cause fox tails from over N during late flower since autos don't like much feed.

I'm not an auto expert but they seem more prone to rot than photo strains. Rain is not the issue and cold is not the issue but high heat and humidity seems to be. There is nothing I know that will stop it other than pulling it when it starts. The saving grace is when it starts the plant is close to finishing so not a huge loss if caught before it spreads.

Bugs are not a huge problem here and I just spray with raid earthblend before buds form
