First Grow (Bag-seed)

Experimenting with bag-seed and awaiting my w.widow & super-skunk from Attitude.

Pls comment guys...im a grow virgin with big ears

also i have video feed of the growth time-lapsed every 30 secs.

oh nice im also growing white widow in the near future, what kind of set up you have?

well guys im new to this...and im not rich...so i most rely on what resources i have

long story short i had a pet catfish in a 10 gallon tank that got sick (he looked sick neways)..so i flushed him to his grave (seriously though..he was dead)...

so i wrapped the inside on my tank with foil (until i find mylar), installed 2x23W CFL's, bought a cheap temp/humid monitor at Walmart (10$), placed my usb webcam into the tank and now i have time-lapse video for this whole process...

end of day 3

WOW very impressive for your first grow! Very good! She looks streached prop her up closer to the lights : ) You need to start planning on how to make your grow box now. You can check out my journal in my sig. and see a box thats very cheap and will last you many grows!

Anyway! Good job on the set up and the webcam idea is fantastic!

yeah...my goal with the webcam is purely educational...(although most nites im watching the plant sway back and forth on the videos like its the fucking terminator)...

im figuring 80-90 days for this project and i will have video of it all.....i enjoy getting out of bed after a long sleep and turning on the tv to watch what my baby was doing all nite....lol

i bought some gear today..gonna give this a real shot i think...i've been doing some research on Ebb & Flow..and also NFT....u guys have any opinions for me i would appreciate

day 9 i think

whooo your baby is getting big! Great work on the grow and keeping us posted. Umm, The only thing I can think about to tell you is read on CFL a little in the FAQ. Your CFLs have to be about 1 inch from the tops to even mean anything to the plant! I did it to mine and it stoped stretching like yours.

Also when you transplant into the container it will finish its grow in, bury it all the way up almost touching the leaves.

Whats your lighting cycle your running on there right now and whats the amount of water your giving and how often?

indeed indeed...i've taken this bagseed as the ultimate learning curve for my super skunks...which btw are now seedlings...

about 3 days ago i watered + 25% nuted the bagseed plant whos name is now SHE-RA this was the second time in 3 waterings that she received nutes...

unfortunately it didnt work out good...starting at the new growth she lost all green and started yellowing...from the new growth and outwards...watching playback video i estimate within 5-6hrs she yellowed from centre new-growth to about a 3cm radius then her fans sank super low (i think it may be relevant that she yellowed first...i'd like to think i didnt overwater..lol)

i didnt panic..i read as much as i could as fast as i could and after reading mounds of forum threads ranging on ideas from over-watering, to nute lock, to root bound, to heat iddues, to ph issues, and light burns, i concluded that i should to an immediate flush of She-Ra's environment with ph balanced water...i also decided at this time to transplant her and minmize the duration of her stress i mixed up abatch of soil, perlite, vermiculite, and sand and plopped her 4" radius surroundings into a new 9" radius home surrounded by more water gobbling materials...while transplanting i notice that there were 5-8 root ends along the sides of her soil and 2-3 pertruding the bottom...i wonder was this her defeciency? ¿

i waited 24hrs and saw no improvement...at that point i gave her another 250ml of ph 7.0 water...

yesterday i started to see that the newest growth was GREEN!!! and now some 24 hrs after the last watering i see much green...and the fans are beginning to rise....yippie

not gonna continue to ramble here...but i like to specualte and trouble-shoot things....some pro's here may be feeling like genius' atm and i understand that i may look a little "slow"..lol...i just hope to entertain my new friends

all comments and critisisms welcomed guys/girls...i will never have too much pride to not want the facts...imma truth seeker...

after seeing the roots growth i'd like to conclude that it was my sole issue for the yellow effect...i also must consider the nutes...whether locked or too-much concentrate..the plant did much better after the fresh water and bigger environment...i hope this experience helps me with the skunks...

I saw some miracle grow "Bloom Plus" at the store yesterday. It said to mix 1/4 TSP to 1 gallon of water.

So my ? is....Do I only use that water to water them with? or do I water with it every other time I water or what? I have no idea about nutes : /

yeah i dont know much yet about nutes...but i decided at the beginning not to use anything with the name "Miracle-grow"....id rather pay a little extra and get something a little less generic...however....i always like to think that "something is always better than nothing!"....

I have 5 skunk seedlings about 6 days old now....my long term goal is to get 1-2 female mother's.....imma keep the momma's in soil forever....hopefully they all preflower in vegging and save me sometime....i'd hate to wait another 3-4 weeks for clone sexing...

like many others here i'm a novice grower. not to come off like an expert but i'm the head of the garden dpt at a major hardware chain. what i can tell you about fertilizing your mj is do it every other watering, i water every 2 days to let the soil dry a bit to let the roots breath. i've had great success with this cycle. my seedlings of my second batch are about 4" tall and not to fert burn i'm using Miracle Grow For Houseplants(8-7-6) when they get about 6" going to switch to a phosphorous rich fert(5-15-5) to help with the vegi growth.

thats terrific, with my soil mommas i got very rich soil...so i only 1/4 nute every 3-4 waterings...im in search of a couple hydro growers for the near future...hint hint

btw....perhaps more nitrogen would be better for vegging....save ur P for the budding:_)

that is true about the N #. since i am a regular gardener at work and home aswell i'm always working im my garden and i buy large bottles of fert and the 5-15-5 i already had. in general a high P # is good for all plants for establishing good root structure and stocky growth but yes i will take your advice on increasing N in days to come cause they're growing fast
